What remote do you use with your Rotel?

    Hello,

I just purchased the Rotel 1068. It's the first pre-amp I've ever owned. The one thing that bugs me about it is the remote. The placement of the buttons (On/Off, Volume, etc) don't seem very intuitive. I'm seriously thinking about trying the MX-500 or MX-700. I'm curious what remotes others are using with their Rotel gear.

About to buy the 1068 myself. I would have to say the MX-700 is a slam dunk for most any system out there. That remote improves upon the MX-500 and then gives you the ability to program and plan on the computer. To me, that is the best option for the price.

I'm actually using the Yami RAV-2000 remote that I had from an old Yamaha Receiver, the RR-1050 is a redundant backup.

Same here Rav2000 from my old RX-V1 got it for free as a mail in bonus, so I kept when I got rid of the V1 with it's standard remote

I use a harmony 688, it kicks ass. I prefer Harmony's "Activities" model over macros.

Phillips TSU6000. I'm a sucker for the color screen.

I use a Marantz RC2000i (2mb version) wich basically is a Philips pronto.

I love it to death. The new pronto is tempting, but the price is a bit steep for me...

I also use my remote extremities, the toes of my feet for walking up to the rack and my fingertips for pushing the buttons. :B

I've been using a Sony AV 3000 touchscreen, which I understand has just been replaced with a slightly improved model.

The things I like about it:
                        1. Low cost, can be had for $100 or less
                        2. Battery life, excellent
                        3. IR strength, excellent..works at great distances and angles
                        4. User interface, excellent combination of tactile buttons and big bright LCD display
                        5. Ability to clone itself
                        6. Excellent support at Remotecentral.com
                        7. Built like a rock...it's been dropped on a hard tile floor from sofa arm height dozens of times without any negative performance issues arising. No broken plastic either!
                        8. Great system macros allow my family to play a dvd, watch sat TV etc by hitting one button.

Things I don't like about it:
                        1. Somewhat difficult to program from the written instructions. Programming took over an hour to figure out from the written text (maybe that's me just being dumb?!)

Pronto TSU-3000. Initially, battery life was terrible but several software updates later its much better.

I'm using my 1068 remote... compared to to the past receiver remotes, it performs much better. There are definitely some things to improve, but it definitely isn't a huge "pain in the ass" (except for the initial programming that is)

I just spend all my money on a rsp-1068, so I am in no hurry at all.

Just thought it looked nice and is smaller than my current pronto.

Had a nice revieuw on remotecentral though.

I just removed the 3801 from my pronto and replaced it by the 1068. As long as it works, I will keep it...

I've used many in the past: Rotel RR990, Pronto TSU-2000, RR-1050... but my favorite model is the (lowly) $30 Radio Shack RS 15-2116. It is sturdy, has a simple layout and is very flexible (when used with a JP1 computer interface and the corresponding extender software).

The only weakness of this remote is that it has a limited number of keys. So you have to remember to press shift+1 to select Video1, etc.

www.remotecentral.com is a good source for those interested in this product, and other IR remotes.

The Harmony SST-659 allows my entire family to turn on (and off) my system with a click of one well labelled button (such as "Watch TV"). Now I no longer come home and find amps mannually powered down, etc.

                                                      Thank you Harmony.

I love it, but it's expensive. bought it from someone here in norway who ordered it, but couldn't use it because he needed RF also. got it for 8k nkr, so with that price I couldn't resist it

                                                            Hi,

I use the Philips TSU-3000 - they are a "challenge" to program but once done - very powerful and very cost effective ($US250 or so). You need to be technically oriented to attempt this...
