Upgrading from 1055 to 1056 worth it?

Has anyone done this? I have not even asked my dealer about this just throwing it out as an idea. If anyone has done this what did they cherge you. My RSX 1055 is less than 1 year old and has been 100% well taken care of. If someone said my dealer did this for $100 and I heard an improvement and I gained x, y z new features over the 1055 and it doesn't have x y and z problems like the 1055 then I'd probably do this.

If it would cost me 500 and really only gain me Dolby PLIIx and a new look I'd just make the upgrade bug go away. :P

In case it matters I am using the the 1005 to run the two rears and a parasound HCA 1203A to run the 3 fronts. I have to say my use is 50% TV (via digial cable HDTV box) 25% movies 15% 2 ch music and 10 % xbox.

I seriously doubt that any dealer would consider such an upgrade for a nominal sum. I suspect that the value of the now discontinued 1055 versus the new 1056 is close to 60% of the older versus the new. And I doubt that you would achieve any significant sound advances.

The only upgrade you should consider (if you have the $$) is to trade the 1055 for a 1068 and a new 2 channel amplifier such as an rb-1080. You would then have separates across the board with the new amp to run your fronts and the parasound to run the center and surrounds. A separate 1068 pre-pro will sound better than the 1056.

I upgraded from a 1055 to a 1098-1075 combo and recently added an Aragon 2 x200 @8ohms or 2x400@4ohms amp and that, while an expensive upgrade, is one which has provided a much better audio and ht sound.

If $$ is not yet available, save some more and enjoy the 1055 as it is a very good receiver at its' price point.

Who says the 1068 sounds better than the 1056? The preamp circuitry and features are the same. Since the preamp has a dedicated power supply not shared with power amps, I assume the 1068 may be a little quieter, but otherwise I am highly skeptical of any significant differences other than a higher price

I agree on the point that a RSX-1056 as a pre-amp only would not be too different that the 1068.

However the 1068 can be combined with better poweramps. And there is a difference.

btw in Europe the 1056 is 25% more costly than a 1068.

        So a 1068+1075+1070 would cost less than a 1056+1075+1070.

Its the exact opposite here in the USA. Considering the fact that the equipment in question is not built in Eurpope or here, I cannot account for what amounts to a 50% difference in price. :E
