Yet Another Bi-Wiring question - A Simple one Though

    Hi All,

I have a Rotel RMB 1075 power amp powering my HT. My mains and centre are connected with ordinary 12 AWG speaker wire and banana plugs at both ends. If I try to bi-wire, what is the best way to connect the second wire to the binding posts on the amp? Are spade connectors a viable choice in this scenario? Obviously, stuffing a second 12 AWG into the existing banana plug at the amp end won't work due to lack of space. I don't want to purchase any specialized wires (from Cat Cables or Better Cables, for instance) because I have a spool of 12 AWG left over from a recent install I did for a client.

I hope my question is clear enough. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I don't want to risk blowing up my amp after all.

    thanks to all.
    best regards...

A lug and a bananna plug will work just fine!

    Peter,

Your lug and banana plug idea will work perfectly. Basically the aim is to make sure that both cables have a good contact directly with the amplifiers output terminals - positive to positive, negative to negative. Any way you can connect both cables to the same terminal is good. I've also use 2 bare wires twisted together if the hole is big enough.

Remember at the speaker end, the cables need to be separate and you need to disconnect the short bridging wire / piece of metal between the two positive and two negative connectors. Naturally it is positive to positive and negative to negative.

    Enjoy.

      Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the quick response and for the reminder for the speaker end. Now it's off to the Hi-Fi shop to pick up some spade lugs!

      thanks again...!
      best regards...

                Spade lug question
                by G-Run
Can someone tell me how to connect speader wire to my 'new' 804S using spade lugs? I can't make heads or tails of the rear connectors other than to shove a banana plug in the end. Are the insulators supposed to be removeable?

                Thanks for your time.

Solen 10 and 12 awg inductors
                by TNRRClassic
Does anyone have experience with the 10 awg or 12 awg air core inductors from Solen? I am wondering if they are a good substitute for foil inductors, as the resistance is about the same. Also, they are a little cheaper. I've personally iused an air core inductor larger than 14 awg. I've always used...

Can I use banana plugs on my 15 year old DM 602s?
                by ed94582
                Hi,

Silly question but I have owned a pair of DM 602 speakers for about 15 years and thought I would replace the speaker wire and got some wire made today with banana plugs but noticed today that the connectors in the back don't seem to allow banana plugs? I read about the red and black...

                Hi everyone,

I'm totally new to locking banana plugs but just got a great deal on some Zu cables. What I hadn't anticipated was the trouble their locking banana plug terminations are causing me. There seems to be no way for them to fit into the 685's banana terminals. They are simply...

AWG thickness of 800 series internal wiring
                by nick.h
Does anyone know the awg thickness of the internal wiring for the 800 series? I noticed the bi-wire connector that comes with the speakers is about 12-14awg. Is it copper? Or do they use silver?
