Can I use banana plugs on my 15 year old DM 602s?

    Hi,

Silly question but I have owned a pair of DM 602 speakers for about 15 years and thought I would replace the speaker wire and got some wire made today with banana plugs but noticed today that the connectors in the back don't seem to allow banana plugs? I read about the red and black plastic protective covers but mine just seem like a solid metal bolt in the back...

    See attached pics...

    Does this seem right?

If so, is there any modification I can do so the connectors can accept banana plugs?

    Thanks...

I dont know of any way to modify the connectors on your speakers.

Maybe just replace your banannas with spades?

The only way to use banana plugs would be to replace the binding posts with ones from a DM6xx Series 2 or 3. It's not that tough to do.

wow that is really strange, you must have one of the first run 602 series1 speakers or something because I have a set of 602 series1 speakers and they have binding posts that accept bananas... **shrugs**

you can get banana to spade adapters that would let you use the banana plugs you have now with your 602s. not really the best solution but it would work!

          Hey guys and girls-
I just became an 'official' member of Club Rotel with my purchase of an RSX 1055 and an RX 1050. The options are incredible, so I'll have to sit down and study for a while, I did get the clock on the remote set, whoppee!

Now, for my question: The most trouble...

          DM601 s3's and Banana plugs...compatible?
          by corysmith01
I just ordered some terminated speaker wire today. I upped the gauge to go thicker than I'm currently running and thought "what the hey, banana connectors would be a nice touch." My instruction manual for the 601's says this:

"The terminals accept 6mm (1/4-in) spades, bared

          Hey everyone,

I recently purchased the B & W HTM62 Centre channel speaker. I am going to be purchasing the whole set over the course of a few months.

          Locking banana plugs + B&W 685 - not possible?
          by mdavis
          Hi everyone,

I'm totally new to locking banana plugs but just got a great deal on some Zu cables. What I hadn't anticipated was the trouble their locking banana plug terminations are causing me. There seems to be no way for them to fit into the 685's banana terminals. They are simply...

banana plugs or spades to connect to amp
          by tboooe
Hi, I read somewhere that spades are the preferred method of connecting speaker cables to the amp because banana plugs causes too much of a voltage drop (or something like that). Can someone please explain why one or the other is preferred?
