    Speaker hiss with Multi input

Having read various views on here that suggest the Multi inputs are 'cleaner' than the 2 ch CD input I thought I'd give them a try for CD. However I noticed a quite audible hiss from the speakers when using just L and R channels of the multi inputs that I don't get from the 2 ch inputs.

Is there a possible reason/cure for this?

    Thanks

There was a bad batch of 1066's right at the beginning that experienced a problem similar to what you are describing. Rotel quickly recalled all of those units and dealers were to ship those units back to Rotel.

Here is a quick test to see if you are experiencing the same problem. Disconnect all of the VIDEO connections to your 1066 (composite, component, and s-video). The problem I mention was caused by a grounding loop created between the audio and video connections. If the hiss goes away when you remove all the video connections, then you probably have one of those recalled units. If the problem doesn’t go away, then you have a different problem, but a problem none the less. Either way, Rotel will take care of you.

Gregg, many thanks for the reply. I should have said, its a 1055, however it doesnt seem unlikely that the same problem could affect both units. I will try what you suggest to see if that cures the problem, if so I will be contacting Rotel.

      Thanks again

        Problems using multi-channel connections
        by tombowlus
I recently picked up a Denon 5900 modded by Dan Wright, and while it sounds phenomenal in 2-channel, I am having difficulty using the multi-channel outputs into my RSP-1066. I get signal from L/R (and sub, using bass management), but nothing from the center or surround channels. I presumed that this...

        1077 Hiss problem
        by foeth
I just hooked up the Rotel 1077 amplifier and it generates a hiss through the tweaters. I've disconnected everything else and put the amp on a separate power socket from the other side of the room (you never know) but it doesn't help. Though the hiss is small, it gets significantly worse when I connect...

        1056 question (Hiss issue)
        by cmr15
Well I'm finally setting up an appointment to hear the 1056 this weekend (and the Arcam 200) ... can't wait. Will probable add a used 2 channel Rotel for my fronts.

However, I'm a little concerned because I have been reading a lot about the fact that Rotel products, specifically the...

substantial buzzz/hiss from speakers casued by a21 interconnect?
        by tboooe
Hi, I am demoing the P3 and A21. There is substantial buzzzzzzzz/hisss coming from my speakers that can easily heard from 1 ft away. With my Rotel 1080 amp I did not have this issue.

I have the ground lift switched activated on the back of the A21. This does not help. I have verified...

Rotel RSX 1057 with Hiss issues...
        by ICEMAN70
        Hi guy's

You know, i thought ROTEL would have fixed this problem by now with their Receivers. My New RSX 1057 has the same hissing issue as the 1056 had. You can hear the Hiss from about 3 feet away. But from my listening position you really can't. I sit about 10-11 feet away. But the...
