RSX 1055 Channel cutting out with pre outs

I recently added an external Parasound HCA 1203 amp for my front 3 chs. I am having an intemittent issue with the left channle sound cutting in and out (like I have a bad connection). This seems to only happen in 2 ch listening (such as lisytening to CDs on my DVD player though the optical connection or a 2ch Digital signal through coax connection from y cable box).

I AM sure it is not the amplifier becuse I swapped the connections so that the interconnect from the Rotal was switched to the center or left channel on the amp and it still cuts out. I have not been able to duplicate the issue with the internal amps in the 1055 so I'm thinking nit is something in the preouts.

    Any thoughts?

Sounds like bad pre-outs to me. I'd take it back to the dealer for them to test and/or exchange unless someone else has a brainstorm...?

It sounds like you have done the trouble shootin',if the ic does the same thing when plugged into any amp inputs and you changed the ic its prolly the preout.

        Update:

I can make the problem go away if I turn the power on and off on the 1055 does this still sound like a preout issue or is it something internal?

That is strange :? At the very least it's still an "issue". I'd be e-mailing Rotel and see what their thoughts are on it. Then go from there.

Just a quick thought, I would reload the lastest software upgrade and see if the problem still persists.

            Regards,

              Called my Dealer (very supportive)

They are going to call the Rotel rep. They think they may have seen something like this where a reset cured it. I sure hope so. Don't like the idea of shipping my Rotel off for service.

Well, if that's the case that would certainly eliminate the software issue.

Good Luck and keep up posted,

(I had to reregister after the new board but I DID start this thread way baCK WHEN).

So I did 2 restes back to factory default and still had the same problem.

I was getting frustrated with this so I deceided to try to takle the ground loop issue I was having. I unplugged basically every cable and wire, removed and tightened every connector I could etc etc. Somewhere in all this I appear to have fixed the issue. I've left the system playing for hours at a time now tih no cutting out. Don't know if I had a poor connection somewhere. soemthing shorting out etc etc. All I know is its fixed.

Any Way To Have 1055 Internal Amps Power Second Zone?
                    by gostan
Two days with mynew rsx-1055 and I have several questions. I do need a second amp to power my zone 2. I would like more power on the main channels. Since I have to purchase a second amp for zone 2 and since I got such a great deal on the 1055 (3 months old - traded to my dealer) I was wondering why...

Looking to hook my sub up via the line level pre outs (front speaker) of my reveiver. I've got a typical sub wire that has a t-type splitter on one end. Would it work connecting the front L and R speaker preouts to a single line in on the sub or should it be reversed. My inclination is the first...

I'm a newbie when it comes to Digital Coaxial Connections. I posed the following question to Rotel and got the following response. Was wondering your thoughts on the subject.

                    HELP - RDV-995 / RSX-1055 Component Video
                    by dmcgowan
I lashed out today and brought home a 42" Plasma

Rearrange the room, new cables connected, etc etc and everything works fine except for using the RSX-1055 to switch component video from the RDV-995.

I can direct connect the RDV-995 to the Plasma and get...

                    Q: S/N on 1055 vs 1066 ?
                    by Gary Stevens
                    Greetings!

I've been pondering the tradeoff between a 1066 and a 1055 and I am wondering if anyone has any info or experiences with the relative signal to noise ratios.

I believe that Andrew noted in another thread (on another forum?) that Rotel stated the S/N ratio of...
