    Television for on-screen display

    Hi y'all!

I just got my Rotel 1066, and I must say I am very happy with it. One difficulty remains: this Rotel is not located near my television. (I'm using it in my home-theater. I've only got a CRT-projector there) So, I'll need to buy a cheap second-hand TV to use the on-screen display.

This brings me to my question: will every TV work? I noticed that there are two outputs for the on-screen display: an S-video output and another (coaxial) output. Our TV's are connected to the provider using a coaxial cable. Is this the same type as the coax-output of my 1066? In other words, can I just buy a crummy old (maybe even black&white) TV and connect my Rotel to the coax-input of this TV? Or, do I need a TV with S-video input (which only exists for the newer TV's)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers,
    Freek Suyver.

Frank the monitor outs on the Rotels are only passed to a composite or s-video out not RF so no you won't be able to use just any old TV since it will need to have an yellow RCA input. That said radio shack does sell RCA to RF converters if you really want to go that route.

Would such a RCA -> RF converter be expensive or are there other downsides to this? I do need the on-screen display, but I'm not very happy about paying 100's of euros for a TV that can show it. I'd rather pay 50 euro for a cheap used TV and then somehow connect that to the 1066.

      Thanks for the heads-up anyway!
      Regards,
      Freek. (PS: not Frank! )

          Hi guys!

I have a Rotel 1066 pre-amp. I know that I can turn off the display by pressing the 'Menu' button on the remote control for a few seconds. But everytime that I switch the pre-amp off and on, the display comes back on again! Is there a way to switch it off permanently (other than...

Well just picked up my new baby today (RSP-1098), and have been playing with her all night long. And I have come to 2 things that are just driving me nuts.

          1. The constant clicking noise between changing surround fields. This is just rediculous, I can;t belive that Rotel let this go,...
