It's definitely worth the price of a fuse. If you decide otherwise, I'll happily send you the price of two gold fuses and a ribbon to tie around them in exchange for that terrible old amp.

Heck yeah! I bought mine new in 1994 and still use it all the time, it's a great amp.

Hell yes! And wait till you see what a new one will cost! Rotel amps, especially the older 9 series, are virtually indestructible. I've been doing Rotel service / repair for 20 years which I believe qualifies me to answer this question. Just be aware the original fuse will very likely be a Time Delay type (not a fast blow) so make sure you use the correct type. Look for a T or an F preceding the amperage rating and replace with the same.

              RB-991 keeps blowing main fuse
              by kingwilliam
              Hi all...

The problem: My RB-991 blew its main 12-amp fuse the other day (the fuse you can easily change from the back). I tried 10-amp fuses, but blew three in a row. No other components or speakers were hooked up to the amp. I unplugged the amp from the wall before swapping fuses....

              Newbie w/blown rb980bx
              by jtcalho
AS i stated in the title my 980bx is out of commision. I blame my wife, because she didn't mention anything until i confronted her. ANY way, what i thought was going to be a simple fuse replacement in order to get my amp back up and running, it was not. After purchasing another fuse and installing,...

              Great Budget Combo....
I used to be a stero junkie, must have owned 25-30 different stereo systems always looking for that perfect sound. That was until I found Rotel and specifically the RB980BX poweramp (which goes ever so well with my Newform Research Ribbon speakers). This setup met all...

              Rotel RA-02: Blown fuse
              by sam500
I stupidly blew a fuse in my RA-02 amp. I've taken off the cover, located the fuse in question and just wanted to make sure that the new fuse I have bought has the right spec.

              The RA-02 takes a T4A 250v fuse. I've just picked up a '4A 250v' fuse. How important is the T ?! Will the 4A...

              RA-01 Blown Fuse
              by ryewoods
I blew a fuse in my Rotel RA-01 the other day. Being that I got the amp as a graduation present and of course the person who gave it to me no longer has the receipt, I decided to try and fix it myself. Today I opened it up and found the bad fuse. On it, it reads "T4L 250V." Does that mean...
