I have heard quite a few Rotel amps over the years. Looking at possibly getting this amp to use in my system. How does this amp sound in comparison to their older class AB amps? Is it an improvement, or is there even a difference? The stereo shop was trying to say how well built these new amps are, with better amp design then previously. Or is this all fluff just to sell amps? Rotel amps I've heard before are the 970 MKii, 1070, 850 and a couple others.

I found a used Rotel RB-985 MKII 5-channel amp. Is this a good amp to get? Is $550 a fair price? According to the ad it's 120 watts/channel, no other specs listed. Im thinking about moving up to a tube amp from solid state. I don't do home theater at all, just 2 channel. B&W speakers need lots of juice to perform well. B&W's are also a bright sounding speaker so im hoping a tube amp would help with that as well. So, for those who may use tube... -

Yes B&W's are power hungry, we need to feed them, but tube amps are different, some of us like it, some of us not. They do not have the power advantge of solidstate amps ,but they are nice(for me at least)... -
Most manufacture's are good at one thing and stick with it. As it relates to high end audio manufactures. So, Here I am thinking, I know it hurts, but my curiosity has gotten the best of me so here it goes. B&W-They make great speakers. Classe'-Makes great amps.
