Buzzing from Input Jack on RC-1082

    Hi everyone,

My 6-year-old Rotel RC-1082 has developed an immediate loud, constant "buzzing" sound whenever the CD input is selected. I've swapped three different pairs of RCA cables and no matter what, the buzz won't go away. I've tried wiggling the cables and it sometimes helps, but within minutes the buzz comes back. However, all the other inputs on the preamp work fine. Any idea as to what this problem may be and how to fix it? Thanks.

I'm an RC-1082 owner so naturally I'm interested in your report. Given the age of the device and the potential cost of getting it fixed I'd be tempted to use one of the other inputs and forget that there's a problem with the CD input.

    Nigel.

Agreed.......try another input. If the same result occurs, then it's a problem with the CD player itself.

Thanks guys. I've tried different source components and swapped RCA cables and the culprit is the CD-input jack. Because of the buzzing, I'm now using the AUX1 input. I reckon something must have gotten "loose" inside the preamp?

Possibly. ...or it could be dust buildup inside that connection.

            Buzzing sound from Krell HTS
            by bayou
I hear a buzzing sound on all the inputs from my Krell HTS. I bought this couple of months ago and hooked it up only now.

            Setup:
The ac outlets are all properly grounded.
Krell HTS is connected to a ac outlet with a 3 prong power cable.
            Rotel RMB-1095, also connected...

            Buzzing Classe Amp with 803D & HTM3?
            by beden1
I hooked up my new 803Ds along with the HTM3S. Impressions & pictures to follow next week.

I had a question and hoped for some advice. I hooked up my Pioneer Elite 82TXS receiver as the pre-pro, a Classe CAV-150 amp (6 channels & bi-amping the front three speakers), along with...

            RMB-1095 Buzz
            by mitch57
            Hi all,

My 1095 seems to be buzzing more and more these days. I have verified that it's nothing to do with grounding. The buzzing is coming from the amplifier itself. I disconnected all interconnects except the speakers.

            Here's what happens:

            1. The amp...

RSX-1067 buzzing with only speakers connected
            by Jay Sylvester
A few weeks back, I purchased a 1067 receiver from my local dealer. When I hooked it up, I heard a distinct buzzing sound coming from all the tweeters in my system. The buzz was volume dependent, but still quite audible at very low volumes. Since it was coming from all 7 speakers in my setup, it was...
