    remote turn-on

I have a RC-1550 & RB-1582. The remote turn-on no longer works. Cable is attached, seated, and switch is flipped to on on the rear panel of the amp. I have tried other cables and same result. Any ideas how to get remote turn-on to work?

Just for fun....and this is a long shot....press the "AUD" button on the remote. On mine, it's at the top left hand side. Once pressed "ROTEL" will be displayed in the LCD screen, THEN press the power button and see if the unit turns on. There are some functions on my Rotel remote that will not work until the "AUD" button is pressed first. Worth a try!.

Buy/borrow a multi-meter and see if you have voltage coming out of the 1550. Also, you have the front power switch on the amp pushed in correct?

Thanks Kevin D. I do have a multimeter. To check for voltage put the Pos pin in the remote hole, Neg pin to ground and then turn on/off the preamp to see if voltage is applied?

It would be a lot easier to check the end of the cable. Tip is positive, sleeve it negative.

18V reading. Rotel has confimred through convos with me that my 12V trigger is bad. Such a hassle to box up, ship for such aminir repair. May just live with it.

Is the unit still under warrantee?

Which repair location is it going to?
