    Current

What is the amount of current that the RB-1090 outputs? I read somewhere that the RB-1092 outputs 40 amps of current...so what does the 1090 have?

It's definitely not 40 amps.... it runs on a 15amp circuit....

I think when it was running it hovered around 50 watts though. I could be wrong on that, it's been well over a year since I put the meter on the amp.

Doing some math I came up with:

      380W @ 8 ohms: 55.2 volts x 6.9 amps

      700W @ 4 ohms: 52.9 volts x 13.225 amps

Values are approximate of course, since speaker impedance tends to vary with frequency, but it gives you an idea how many volts and amps are needed to drive X watts into 8 or 4 ohm loads.

Of course in reality the average power is a lot less unless you're clipping the heck out of the amp and making your speakers melt down.

On a continuous basis, no. But given a power supply with adequate storage/filter capacitance, the instantaneous peak current output can far exceed the continuous current available from the mains AC supply circuit.

          Digital Amps-Whats Your Take
          by bullitt731
As it looks like Rotel has made a major shift to digital amps in current and forth coming models. I wonder if everyone agrees with this format. I have been waiting for the new pre pros and amps to come out, but I am not sure digital is the way to go.

          Any Comments?

          Odyssey Amps

I first became aware of the Odyssey brand over four years ago.

About the time I got my Rotel RB-1090 was when I was seriously looking at their power amp product line, however I never got past the point of browsing their web site before getting the Rotel (in fact, a dear friend and former...

          Ohms law question
          by rattmann316
Sorry to "nerd it up" in here but I have a question about hi-current amps. Can anyone explain how some amps are "hi-current" while others arent? If you apply Ohms law to any basic hook up there is a finite amount of current that can be used for any device, especially considering...

Amps? What do all the numbers mean?
          by Rolyasm
Okay, I am looking at some amps for my subwoofer. I am using four 15" Avalanche drivers in a large box system. That is another forum. It has been recommended that I use Behringers's EP2500 amplifier, which I am happy to do, but wanted to compare some others and learn something at the same time....

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question.
Below is what I experienced last night.
I hope I explained the situation well enough.
I thought I would run it by you guys.

I received some new component video cables and went to hook them up.
          I needed to...
