rsx 1057 no test tone from left and right speakers

    Hi,

I just recently set my rotel rsx 1057 with 5.1 surround. When I go
into the OSD menu and into the test tone setting I get all tones but
front left and right. I think it might have something to do with the
redirect setting in the defat setup menu which says Front>CB, but I am
not able to change it because it requires a password that I do not
remember setting when I set my rsx 1057 a few years ago. setting
everything to factory default does not fix this issue. If this isn't
the issue I hope there is another explanation to why I cannot receive a
tone from left and right. If I could get help on this I would greatly
    appreciate it.

    -Thank you

Well, firstly, when you do the test, is the unit set in surround mode?. If it's in analog bypass that could be a problem as well. Also, go into the speaker setup screen and make sure that you are telling the Rotel that you have 5 speakers. MAke sure they are set to 'ON' and either large or small. Small being preferred with that unit to conserve power. For whatever reason, I believe the Rotel thinks that you do not have a left and right speaker!!

If front is set to CB, you will not get front speakers. You will need to set this back to front-> front. Unfortunately for this to take, you have to do a factory reset after this.

If you can't remember the password, that may be difficult. There's nothing in the manual dealing with passwords, I think that may have been added in an update. You may have to call Rotel to see if there's a bypass.

        I would at least try "0 0 0 0", "1 1 1 1" and "1 2 3 4" as possible default passwords.
