RSX-1560: Using CB Amps for Zone 2

    Hello,

I have a Rotel RSX 1560. My setup is 5.1 and I do not have Center Back speakers. I want to configure the receiver so that I can use the two Center Back amps to power speakers in my backyard - as Zone 2. I can't seem to get it to work.

Here is what I have already done.

In the Default Setup Menu, I set REDIRECT to CB > Zone 2. I then set Factory Default to YES and went through the process of resetting the unit to Factory Default settings. When it powered back up, it did so with all settings reset to defaults and the redirect set to Zone2.

Then in the Input Setup, I set the Video4 to Video OFF and Audio Input to Coaxial 2 - which is the source (a Sonos music player) which I want to use to drive the speakers in the backyard. The label was assigned as PATIO.
Finally, in the Zone Setup, for Zone2, I set the Source to Video4 (now showing as PATIO) and set the Volume levels.

Is there anything else I need to do? I would have expected the Sonos, through Coax2 input assigned to Video 4/PATIO, to play through the two speakers connected to the two CB amps. It is not doing so. I have extensively tested the speakers, wire connections, the operation of the CB amps (through a temporary 7.1 set up), the source etc. It all works, except for the Redirect.

Also, in the Speaker Setup, I have set Center Back to None. Is this correct? I thought this would be required since my primary setup does not have CB speakers.

    Thanks for your help.

It appears you have set it up correctly, but the problem is that Zones 2, 3 and 4 will only pass analog signals. You will need to make an additional analog connection from the Sonos to be able to use any of the remote zones on the Rotel with it, so hopefully your particular Sonos model has a built-in DAC and analog outputs.

Ah..ok. I missed that. Yes, the Sonos has analog audio outputs, in addition to coax and optical digital outputs. Thanks, Steve.

Ok, i'm about at wits end here.
To simpify what im doing, I'll only refer to three components.
        1) The zone 2, which is just a CRT tv with composite video and simple two channel stereo... basicly, its just a tv. I'm not using Coax to feed it any signal, just the composite video and sterio...

        First timer here.

I'm having trouble playing OUT to Zone 2 from my Airport Express plugged into Optical 1.

        Here's where I'm at:

        Help with Zone 2 setup
        by TommyV
I own the RSX 1057 and just ran some speaker wire out to my patio from my new Emotiva BPA-1 2ch amp. I have everything set up nicely where I can control the zone 2 from my Harmony 890. The thing is I do not want to take my Harmony outside and would like to have separate control out on the patio of On/Off,...

Remote C2 Turn on and Source Selection???
        by jprafter
I recently bought a SONOS system to distribute my digital music throughout my house. Most zones have speakers directly connected to the SONOS zone players. They turn on and play by control from a wifi controller.

My Home Theater zone is a little different. I use a connection to my C2....
