I hope somebody can help me with this problem. From time to time I get an electronic or mechanic hum from within my RB 1552(It may come from the trafo) it is not comming through to the speakers, it's on for a second or to and then gone fore a few more seconds, and then recycles with the same interval. Sometimes the hum gets lower in volume everytime it recycles and sometimes it stays the same. When the hum starts it go's on for the whole evening and sometimes it's gone after an hour? Help please.
Problem with my RB 1552!

Toroid transformers can hum if there is DC offset on the AC line and if that's your problem some people have made it stop by using a plug-in DC blocking device. http://sound.westhost.com/articles/xfmr-dc.htm
Sometimes mechanical hum from a toroid can be made to go away or become inaudible by loosening the nut on the center bolt and rotating the transformer slightly, then re-tightening. Depending on how much slack there is on the transformer wires, you may only be able to rotate it a degree or two, but sometimes that is enough to help alleviate the noise.

Hi,
I recently purchased the A51, and I am getting a hum from the transformer. The hum comes directly from the A51 unit and not through the speaker (it's not a ground loop problem). I send the A51 back to Parasound for repair and they replaced the transformer (very good technical support...-

by Bob SternThe power transformer in one of my two JC-1's has a 60 Hz mechanical hum loud enough to notice 20 feet away. The other JC-1 is perfectly quiet. The amps are a year old but have had the problem since they were new.
I called Parasound's service dept. a year ago. The service rep told...-
