RSX 1056 -unable to change to Dolby

My Rotel remote RR-1050 will not change the RSX 1056 on-screen displays. Trying to change from analog to Dolby sound. This is after a time when I heard speakers popping when system was off in stand by. Took it in to the dealer and they said there was not problem. Have not had popping after I brought the RSX 1056 home but now can't change analog to digital for Dolby. Solutions please ?

Couple of questions. Can you change digital settings on the receiver itself using it's front buttons?. Secondly, before you attempt to use the remote, do you press "AUD" first?.

      Can't get Menu OSD working

I hate to be such an idiot on this...but I am. I'm now trying to get to the On Screen display. On the remote I press AUD, then push Menu/OSD --- Menu pops up and says EMPTY. Nothing shows on the TV screen. Yesterday a "technician" got the Menu to display on the TV screen, but was unable to make any changes using the up/down keys.

Sounds like the codes on AUD have been cleared out. You need to default the remote.

If you are seeing MENU and then EMPTY on the RR-1050 LCD display, that means there is no code stored for that button press.

When you press the AUD button are you pressing it hard enough to register so that the LCD display says AUD (or whatever custom label might have been user programmed for the AUD input selection button)?

I ask this because on my remote, after some years of wear and tear, it takes a hard press for it to register. If I select TUNER, for example (and the display then says TUNER), when I press the Menu/OSD button, I will get MENU followed by EMPTY, which is normal because there is no preset code for that button when TUNER is selected.

If you are sure that when you press AUD, the LCD shows AUD, and you still get EMPTY for the Menu/OSD button, then you may want to reset the buttons for AUD (and by default also those commands under the V1 input selection) by pressing the recessed Preload button at the bottom of the sliding portion with a ball point pen. You will erase all user programmed and learned commands for the AUD and V1 inputs.

Alternatively, you can use a ball point pen to depress the recessed Clear button, then

          1. Press a command button to clear and restore the factory preset for that button

          or

          2. Press the AUD button for less than one second to clear and restore the factory presets for all buttons under the AUD device.

But I still suspect that when you're pressing the AUD button, it has not registered and changed the remote's focus to AUD (and displaying AUD on the LCD display).

RSX-1056 not detecting dolby signals correctly
            by pacoinmass
I recently noticed that my receiver does not detect dolby signal from the satellite correctly (for both OTA and DirecTV signals). For stations broadcasting in Dolby Pro Logic, I use the Dolby Pro Logic II Cinema mode, which should activate the center channel as well as the surrounds. The problem is...

How to bring up menu on RSX-1056
            by acdc01
I have an RSX-1056. I think the reason why I can't get any sound is because the input is probably set on something other than component input 2. But I can't seem to bring up the menu where I can change this. The only time I see a menu is when it flashes briefly right at start up. I push the menu/osd...

I just completed my Cobalt S set of loudspeakers with a JM LAB Cobalt SW 27A subwoofer (secondhand) and had the help of an experienced friend to calibrate it.

I have an RSX 1056 and when he saw the OSD menu, he told me that I was using an old firmware and that updating it will help to...

Conect a monitor to RSX 1056
            by Vicente
            Hi everybody!

I have a spare LCD PC monitor with only a VGA input, and I was thinking of using it as a display for the RSX 1056/RDV 1060 combo as I have it conected to a projector.

This way I won't need to turn on the projector every time I need to change the setup, see...
