    Rotel RMB-1085 vs. RMB-1565

I am at the point where I am considering moving to the Rotel RSP-1570 processor, to mate with a 5-channel amp. I've currently got the RMB-1085, which I love. The options I'm considering are to keep the RMB-1085, or possibly move to the RMB-1565 to match the 1570. My speakers are B&W 805S, HTM4S, and SCMS, and the power of the RMB-1085 seems to be more than sufficient.

So, on the surface, the RMB-1085 and RMB-1565 appear to be very similar, if not the same amp with a new box. However, if you compare the specs, there are several notable differences that make me wonder what has changed inside. Does the 1565 use different/newer ICEpower modules?

Some specs of interest (1085 on the left, 1565 on the right):
    - Damping factor: 200 vs. 400
    - Frequency response: 40kHz vs. 80kHz
    - Signal to noise: 105 vs. 109
    - Power consumption: 250 vs. 280

Has anyone compared these two directly, or have any insight as to the differences? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: also copied question to Rotel Support, and will report any responses I receive.

    After further review

After reviewing the manual for the RMB-1565, it appears that the specs on the Rotel web site are incorrrect. The manual for the 1565 matches the 1085 specs exactly. It appears that some of the specs for the larger RMB-1575 inadvertantly made their way onto the 1565 page (just a hunch).

So, apparently it is the same amp in a different box. I'll go with this unless I hear anything different from Rotel.

      1085 or 1565
      by ray5
Hi! I am looking to add rears to my HT, currently am running 802D's and HTM2D with the 1092 and 1091 combo with 1570 as the pre/pro. Though cosmetically the 1085 will match is there some reason I should think of getting the 1565? It seems they are pretty identical as far as specs are concerned. The...

      Comparison of rmb-1085 and 1565
      by AudioDude
      Hello,
Has anyone compared the rmb-1085 to the 1565? Just bought the 1085 several months ago would it be worth the upgrade? Secondly how much improvement would there be from going from using a avr645 as a preamp to a rsp-1570?
      Thanks guys

      Rotel RMB-1565 vs 1575 and 1077
      by Buckster
I've struggled to find any reviews on the 1565 apart from one useful user review on here

I've read that the 1565 uses the ICEPower 200 modules - and although specs wise they don't look far off the ICE Power 250 modules (that the 1575 and 1077 use ?) - pictorially and lay-out wise the...

      Vandersteen 2W and RMB-1085
      by biekrx
I have a pair of Vandersteen 2W subs, and recently purchased an RMB-1085. The 2W is a little unusual because it connects in parallel with the speakers via the speaker terminals on the amp. There is a high pass filter added to the line inputs to the amp that rolls off the low frequencies. The gain...

      rsp-1570 + rmb-1565 vs rsx-1560
      by Brian482
      RSP-1570 - 2200
      RMB-1565 - 1300

      Total - 3500

      RSX-1560 - 2600

      Total - 2600

My question is, is it worth spending the extra money to get separates for the cost difference? With the 1570 combo you will also loss the radio function of the...
