    Sound cutting out on 1098

More frequently the sound is cutting out on my 1098. Happens with all sources. Will be fine for awhile then un usable. No local dealer anymore and hate to wait 2 months to ship back to rotel. Any suggestions? Thinking about replacing with onkyo nr 808 receiver.

Same problem with my RSX 1056

I have the same problem!. Do you hear a 'pop' or a 'crakel' sound before the sound cuts out?. Do the display lights stay on?.

Have you been able to fix it or contact Rotel ?

Let me know if you find anything out ok?

    Thanks!

I would say it's most likely something in the audio board. I would be tempted to remove it and use some deoxit on the connectors...maybe clean the Pre out, removing dust and what not. See what that does.

There is a store in Pittsburgh, PA that can probably look at it and get it working (I can get the service manual to them) for you. Though I don't know how busy they are... I think things are going well so they are busy, but not authorized by Rotel... so you won't pay the high prices for repairs that Rotel will make you pay for.

Vintage HiFi of Pittsburgh is all you need to search on.

Do you hear faint clicks when it drops out? Replace the Reed Relays.

Hi Mike, are you sure that there are Reed relays in 1098? If so do you know the designators for those?

            Best regards, tetzschner
