Are there any here who use an external phono amp with there preamp or do you use your phono inputs on the preamp? How good is the phono stage on the RC 1090 or is it better to get a external phono amp?

Thanks...I have been wondering if the on board MM was good are great.Originally posted by minerI had used the MM phono stage on a RC-1090 and RC-1082 and found that my Graham Slee Era Gold V produced better sound. They onboard stages were OK, but not the best.

I'm using the on-board pre-amp (got the RC-1090 as well)....
I find its pretty good, though I'm not using anything high-end on it, a simple Sumiko Pearl MM cartridge (like Ortofon 2M red, or Grado Gold prestige).
I suspect its on a par with the likes of NAD PP-2 , Azur 640P etc.- Bottom

by PMP2Hi folks,
I'm looking for a good phono-preamp to connect my DUAL CS5000 fitted with the Ortofon OMB20 MM cartridge to my Musical Fidelity M6i integrated amplifier.
I read a lot about different pre-amps in the 300-400€ price range but it's very difficult to decide if you...-

by minerHave recently got back inot vinyl. Rig consists of a Rega P5, Exact cartridge & TTPSU. I am happy with the sound but am always tweaking. Would a outboard phono stage <$500 improve the sound over my onboard PS? A writer who did a review on the RC-1070 said the phono stage was worth the cost...-

Just released. Good news for all of us. I'm still waiting on some other things that should be out about now, like the ZCD. Keep it up, Parasound! It's too bad that I don't use vinyl myself.

by Kevin97225Hi, I am buying the Rotel RB-1090 amp and trying to decide which Pre-Amp to get for it, the Rotel RC-1070 or RC-1090. I'm not going to use the phono section or the balanced imputs, or computer port on the RC-1090 so I hate to pay extra for features I won't use.
I've asked the dealer...-
