    ground on rb 985?

Hello i've changed the powercord on my rb985 to a supra lorad cable.I've installed a new power inlet on the amp with a ground pin.should i use it or not.is there any gain(improvement in the sound) in grounding the rb 985.i am currrently running it without grounding since thats how i'ts originally was constructed.

I can't answer your question directly, but one thing to check is does the Amps IEC connector (power in) have a middle earth pin? If it does, I'd use a 3 wire cord with earth, if it doesn't a 2 wire will suffice as the earth is obviously not necessary.

the amp doesent have a connector originally. i put one in to be able to use the supra lorad power cable.the supra cable is shielded and must be grounded.

The iec connector i've put in have a groundpin is there any risk\benfit in using it.since the original design of the amp is without grounding.

          Sorry, I mis-read your post.
If the original design didn't use a ground, then I wouldn't change the setup.
The power cord shield will still be effective if its grounded at the wall outlet end.

I am thinking of upgrading the system in my home office, I have a Carver CM 1090 and I am looking at a Rotel RA 985 on EBAY. Would this be an upgrade? My speakers are Monitor Audio Silver S6 and I use an Onkyo DX-C380 CD changer, or my Ipod or my vintage Technics SL 1900 turntable as the source. I ususally...

Hi...I am new to this forum and hope that someone here can help. I lost my "old" system to my ex and am now re-building from stratch and on a tight budget.

I picked-up an old RSP-985 (DD, DTS, THX...) pre/pro that sounds great...except for an ever present hum. I have tried...

              Balanced power

I thought that my dedicated 20amp line were the end all ? I went to the site for balanced power and downloaded all the FAQ.

I understand that a total system would do justice better, but to get my feet wet, could I start with the 20a line that feeds my line level equipment ? Would i hear...
