    RSP-1098 with HDMI

    Hi guys. I just had this upgrade done. I want to use it but don't understand exactly what I can or can't do. I have a Panny BD with analog outs for truHD into the Rotel. I am sending the picture straight to the TV via HDMI. I have a set top with component outs to the Rotel, then components out to the TV from the Rotel. My DVD player is component out/ toslink out/ to the Rotel and passes through to the TV. Do I even need the HDMI? will there be any benefit to using it?

      In your case no. The HDMI upgrade is just an HDMI switch. You can't pull audio from HDMI or convert anything video to HDMI.

      So until you have multiple HDMI sources and only want to send one HDMI to the tv, there's no need.

              It's a switch, so technically it will pass everything untouched.
