RSP 1069 and Sony 5400ES SACD Player

    RSP 1069 and Sony 5400ES SACD Player

    Greetings!!! Quick question...

    The new Sony SACD player (SCD-XA5400ES) outputs multi-channel sound via the HDMI connection as either DSD or PCM depending on the handshake it makes with the processor. I know the 1069 won't accept the DSD, but will it accept the multi-channel PCM signal? Does anyone have this set-up, heard it, or tried it?

      The RSP-1069 will certainly accept a multi channel PCM input through the HDMI. I haven't heard that combo but it should work fine as long as the player does the DSD to PCM conversion.

          The Sony is unpredictable in this type of application. There is no control or menu setting to dictate to it that it convert to PCM. It does so in response to the EDIDs exchanged over HDMI. I could not get it to output PCM with the Classe SSP-600 although some have reported success with this combination. It did so with the ARCAM AV888 just fine. It does output PCM with the Meridian HD621 but downsampled to 44.1!!

          Just a head's up to try this out before the ink is dry on your check and you still have return privileges.
