    help with next upgrade...

    OK Guys-

    Here is the current system:
    Rotel RSP-1066
    Rotel RMB-1075
    Panasonic BD-55
    160 GB Apple TV
    B&W 704's
    B&W HTM7
    B&W ASW 850
    and B&W 303's (rears)

Im looking at adding a CD player to the mix. I was thinking either the Rotel RCD-1070 or 1072... but not sure which one. I know the 1072 is a great player but would I notice the difference the difference over the RCD-1070?

I do like parking my butt on the sofa and listen to CD's for 30-60 minutes a couple times a week. overall Im more 60 percent music and 40 percent movies.

Or am I going the wrong direction all together?

Is there somewhere else I should focus on upgrading first that would benefit the system like the preamp or the amp?

    Thanks!
    B&W 704's
    B&W HTM7
    B&W DS7's (rears)
    B&W 850 Subwoofer
    Rotel RSP 1066
    Rotel RMB 1075
    Rotel RDV-1060

the 1072 is damn good. I'd upgrade that first. your systems only going to be as good as your source.

Don't bother. The Panasonic BD-55 is a very solid CD player on it's own. :T

            You think so?

Since I've owned it (Dec '08), I've been impressed with its sound, but have always wondered if I am missing anything.

I've played back digital (audioquest optical) and through the analogs (Multi-Inputs) and feel that the analog is definitely warmer, but maybe more clarity going through the optical.

I guess one of the main differences is using the DAC's in the RSP-1066 vs the DAC's in the Panasonic BD-55.

So should I upgrade the Pre before going with a CD player?

I have a Cayin CD player which is in the shop for repairs so the bd55 is doing the job. The sound is a little different but I feel I get more dynamics out of the bd55

I have no experience with the rsp-1066 but I still have the rsp-1068. The analog connection is better for me with the digital part sounding slightly harsh.

But I'm using and rc-1082 for my pre now. A good dedicated pre-amp always helps.

                Ferres,

Are you running your CD player through the CD input or are you running them through the multi-inputs on the Rsp-1068?

I ran them through the CD analog input.
