Adding an IR receiver to RSP 1069

Hey, so I am looking to add a second receiver eye to my 1069 because when I am at my computer my couch blocks my remotes path to the 1069. When I am sitting on the couch and using it normally it is obviously fine. So my question is, would I be able to purchase just the receiver eye, with the 3.5mm cord and plug that straight into the back of the 1069, or would I need to have it routed through a powered IR receiver box and then use a separate 3.5mm jack from the box to the 1069?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You would need to use a powered connecting block. There's no power on the IR in jacks.

If you have some basic wire knowledge you don't really need the connecting block. If you wanted to be able to control other things as well it is necessary.

I'm not sure if they still do or not, but the Xantech IR receivers used to come with a single output connecting block. That, a power supply, and a 1/8" mono cable would be all you would need.

I was thinking about just getting this setup since it would have the ir receiver and the block with power supply for about the same as the cheapest ir receiver I could find online. I looked on my dvd and my cable box and they don' have an ir plug in so I would need to use flashers for those ones but I am not that worried about those ones. I think this would be a decent way to go about fixing my problem fairly cheaply. Let me know if you have any other ideas that would be better.

Thank you very much for your response Kevin, everyone on this forum is so quick to respond and always very helpful, so thanks a ton.

Looks like that should work fine.

Let me start by saying that I have never been completely satisfied with the sound of the 1069 .I have always felt that there was something going on with it.When I first brought the 1069 home for audition I loved it.Then it was sent off to have the bypass board installed. When I got it back it just did...

As a long term Rotel user, I have been considering upgrading my pre/pro.

The reasons? My old pre/pro IS a 1066. LOL

Really it is for better and more video switching with component. The old 1066 got the component video upgrade board (never worked with anything!!!) so...

I just purchased a new Rotel 1069 processor at a great clearance price. Unfortunately, I have been unable to display a satellite TV image correctly.
I have my satellite receiver (motorolla/starchoice 530) connected using a DVD-HDMI adapter to HDMI input 1.
It displays the source but not...

                1069 Sound Quality

I did not see this topic on a specific thread, so I am curious how owners/users of the 1069 compare its sound quality to the 1068, 1098 and competing units from other companies. I am interested in both analog quality for CD/SACD/DVD-A and blu ray/HD-DVD sound quality over HDMI. Any bugs experienced...
