    This Rotel is so weird...

Yesterday i've experimented a new strange thing with my rotel 1066.
When setting the crossover 'off', the dialogues are sent to the central speaker AND the 2 main speakers.
Until now, I reproached the rotel his lack of width of the dialogues that are stuck in the middle of the scene. It seems better this way and with more bass.

But what the hell is the link between crossover and dialogues ???
This rotel has a very weird behavior...

which processing mode are you in? Pro logic or a 5.1 mode? Is it all dialog or just deep male voices etc?

It was in DPL II and 5.1
All dialogues (male/female) were concerned. Small sounds in the background has became more noticeable.
The extension of the dialogues was more important in DPLII than in 5.1

How do you have your front speakers defined (all small, all large, large L&R with small center)?

I have my speakers all defined as small. When I turned the crossover "off" I found that on the positive side bass became more directional (not the same as being aware of the location of the sub). On the negative side, everything else sounded like crap.

In the end, I found the best way to set the crossover is to put a scene on loop, go into the crossover menu, close your eyes, and cycle thru the settings, just listening, not looking at the OSD. Stop where you think it sounds the best. For me, it was 80Hz (go figure).

          Front : large (25hz @ -3db)
          center : small (58Hz)
          surround : small (48Hz)

Then i switch crossover setting from 40Hz to off.

I got an answer from rotel europe for my 2 problems : they can't explain what i described. Maybe a faulty model or a software glitch.
I have to returned the 1066 It needs to be checked.
I don't know how long it could take to do that.

              My review of Rotel RB-1090
              by KathyMason
I did this review for the Klipsch forum of how wonderful
the Klipsch RF-7 and Rotel RB-1090 sound together.
The Rotel RB-1090 is a superb amp with the Klipsch
RF-7. Klipsch are very revealing speakers with any
shotcomings from an amp and the Klipsch will let you

How to upgrade the Rotel 1066
              by Andrew Pratt
I recently got the Rotel RTC 1066 pre amp and one of its features is that it has upgradeable firmware. You can request the latest firmware by emailing Rotel here or you can download the latest version (currently 1.45) from here The cable you need to update your firmware is available from Rotel and is...

Speaker upgrade: Rotel RX-1052 and RCD-1072
              by thyname
I have a Rotel RX-1052 stereo receiver and RCD-1072 cd player with SilverCats interconnects, all of these connected to my JBL E60 three-way floor standing speakers through Monster Speaker cables. It sounds good to me, but everybody says that my JBL speakers are my weakest point in my dedicated 2-channel...

              Sad story on Rotel service
              by Miguel
              Hi everyone,

This email is a combination of a request for moral support and a question...

Here's my story... I've owned a RSX-1055 for about 3 years now, and I'm very happy with it. Fantastic gear. Great sound. Until one day, it started to make some weird noises through...
