4.1 (no center) bad idea on a RSX 1067

Hi! I 've been searching i the forum about this and found some stuff, but i thought it would be easier just to ask you, since my english i a litte bad and i want to get this right. I have the RSX 1067 since a couple of years ago, (2006) and now i don't have the center speaker anymore.

I prefer to have all speakers on small an let the sub play everything under 80 hz. But i felt, when i had the C speaker, when switching between Center "small" and "no" that the no option was less dynamic.

Is there any way to work around this issue? From what i've been reading here, the receiver can't do that much processing.

I have Dynaudio Focus 140 as fronts, which are quite small, so they be better of with some bass management.

    Thanks!

Now i've also read that the DD spec doesn't allow the full dynamic range signal to be sent to L&R when down mixing the center channel  I'll have to check if this goes for DTS aswell.

On the first 10 series run, the night-mode for Dolby Digital was not implemented. There is an issue with DTS tracks loosing dynamics on a 4.1 system. If you add center rears, the DTS issue goes away. There might be some compression on Dolby Digital, but I could never tell.

With the later 10 series (69,58) the compression on Dolby Digital when not using a 5.1 system is implemented. Even if you add center rears. I never checked to see if the DTS is still there.

No real way to get around this using the built-in amplifiers.

Thank you! Some of the Denon receivers have an option to turn the DD compression off when downmixing to 4.1. But i read a thread were you suggested an external mixer, i think it a good idea.

I'll guess i'll have to reconsider center rears then :P

I just wanted to throw this question out there:

What is the likelyhood that the C1 or C2 will be upgraded to support DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus? Blu-Ray & HD-DVD have announced (months ago) that these format will be supported.

          Here's information on DTS-HD with a...

          Hi all,

This is my first post :-)

I have recently bought a old RSX-1065. It works fine except when decoding DTS/DD and subwoofer is set to NO, I only have two large front speakers. When I do this a buzzing sound can be heard through the speakers and there is no bass at...

Stumbled across this forum a couple of weeks ago after upgrading from a Denon 3802 to an RSX-1067. Thanks for creating such a fabulous resource on Rotel equipment. I've read through many of the past threads concerning the 1067 and subs but still have some questions.

          I have the RSX-1067,...
