    RR-969 remote getting sticky?

This is going to sound like an idiotic question I know but I have to ask.

Can the RR-969 remote black plastic section become tacky or sticky if left unused for a long time?

I haven't used it for at least a year but it has been on the table and now go to use it again and found the whole thing is tacky and covered in small barely visible I guess pieces of lint. All the black plastic part..top, bottom, sides, pull-down cover are sticky but not the keypad section or the grey are surrounding it. The black plastic on the edge of the keypad is sticky but right next to it the grey section around the keypad is fine?

Sounds like an idiotic question I know but I can't remember anyone pouring beer all over it but would have to pretty much dunked it in a schooner for it to get covered the way it is.. and yet the keypad is not sticky at all? I live in a very dusty area and also a flight path with planes flying over so maybe after a year or more of lying there it has picked up some residue over time? Dunno?

Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Thanks for reading this.. hoping I don't get too many lolz

    Cheers

The remote on my 1066 experienced the same thing, unfotunately its bec of the rubberized texture of the remote panel. what I did is to remove those sticky portion with a damp cloth, now my remote is smoother and glossier than before.

My RR969 did the same - got a sticky covering and I was not able to remove it.

Anything made can be taken apart. You need to open the remote. The plastic key pad will be all in one piece. Take it out and wash it in hot water with dish washing liquid. Let it dry. Clean the circuit board with alcohol. re-assemble the unit and it will work like new. Also, if some of the keys do not work due to excessive usage, you can coat that key with the graphite of a pencil to restore that particular key. Good luck !!!

OP says the case is sticky, not the buttons. :W

Get a Logitech Harmony One instead, the last remote you'll ever need.

              RR969 Battery Usage
              by princeoliver
I am just wondering how often most members change the battery on their RR969. I have this remote since the end of December and it is on its third set of AAAs already! The batteries on my TV, VCR, DVD remotes usually does not require changing for over a year or even two. I still use the other remotes...

I took my RR-969 remote control with me to my local Rotel dealer to learn some fuctions of the RR-1050 into the RR-969.Specifically direct access to 2CH(stereo),PL C(Prologic II Cinema),PL M(Prologic II Music),5CH(5 channel stereo) and 7CH(7 channel stereo)modes.

              Where'd the sticky threads go?
              by Kevin P
The Mission Possible DIY "sticky" threads have a new home!

They are now in the Missions Accomplished! sub-forum.

This helps de-clutter the DIY forum, making it easier to find new posts/threads there. When a thread is determined to be suitable for a sticky, ThomasW...

              Odd RSP-976 remote issues...and a fix!
              by DrJazz
I just wanted to share an odd experience I've been having with my trusty old RSP-976 surround sound processor. For quite some time now (well over a year, maybe more) I've been having one helluva time with the remote control. Specifically, the 976 would only respond intermittently to volume up and down...
