How to ground a Rotel RLC 1040

I was wondering how to ground my Rotel power conditioner so I can eliminate a hum noise that is coming from my I mac computer.

I bought a 8 meter cable 1/8" Stereo Mini Plug (3.5 mm) to Dual RCA Termination so I can hear music from my computer to the speakers.

I plugged in the RCA's to the back of my Rotel pre amp RC 1082 and I hear a hum noise.
The power conditioner in the back panel it has a system ground screw that the manual says it eliminates the hum noise.
But it doesnt say how to do it.

I would appreciate any recommendations and advices you may have

    Thanks a lot

You can try it, but it's probably not going to fix your problem. With an 8m cable, I'm assuming your computer is not plugged into the 1040. For the grounding lug to do anything, you would most likely need to run a ground wire from your computer case to it.

Your best bet is to run an optical cable over to the PC if you have that output, or get a USB soundcard with optical out. Or you can get an RCA level ground-loop isolator.

Or you can plug the I mac into the 1040..

A digital cable isn't going to help in this case unless there is an outboard DAC that's not mentioned since the system has an RC-1082. The ground wire is the best bet to try without getting a DAC of some kind.

Well, I think I have to start trying the methods mentioned above one by one
The ground wire method sounds good too.
I am thinking contacting Rotel too. I wish the Pre Amp Rotel RC 1082 had a USB connection for hard drives.
          Wouldn't be that fun?
          Thanks anyway

I titled my first thread as "Another New Member", but should have had a subject in title bar that would get more and various responses. I had two helpful replies, and thanks for those!

The brief of the subject was that I have read a lot about various problems with some Rotel...

            My Review on the RLC-1040.
            by ICEMAN70
I just finished hooking up everything to the new RLC-1040 conditioner. The first RLC-1040 i had was Faulty so got it replaced by another one which works perfect so far.

I listened to some music today from my RDV-1040 and it sounded more clear than ever when hooked up to the RLC-1040....

There are so many opinions and IMO lack of knowladge (including myself) when i comes to surge protection and line conditioners. I have a couple of questions about Rotels.

I recently sold my Richard Grey because it did not do what I needed. In the end I did't expect to much from it because...

            RLC-1040 vs. APC H15
            by MusicMonkey
Hopefully a quick question for everybody: I've read here and in other forums that the new RLC-1040 power conditioner/regulator is "based on" the APC H15.

Does anyone know for sure if these two are literally EXACTLY the same on the inside, just that the RLC-1040 has a different...
