Speakers for RSP 1066 and RMB 1075

    Hi,

I have just joine dthe forum bu t have had my Rotels for a number of years now. I am currently on the market for a new speaker set up for them and was hoping to get some suggestions.

Im currently using Mission M74s on the Front L/R and a 77c for the center with 77ds on the rears. I would like to stick with floorstanders on the front L/R and wall mounted rears. (I am going to keep my REL sub).

The system is used for both music and movies equally and I listen to mainly rock and metal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the Forum!

What is your budget, and any info on your room may help. Also, when listeining to music, do you run DSP or 2-ch analog?

I have the same setup as you, that being the 1066/1075. I also like hard rock/metal among other things as well.

Generally on this forum, you will see B&W mentioned as being a good partner to Rotel. However,I don't know how many members would be listening to metal/hard rock.I could be wrong, but some/most B&W's I thought were more suited to Jazz,country....

JBL's are supposed to be good for rock music but the JBL's I had were way too bright.Sure, they had some slam to them, but way too harsh. They had a titanium tweeter so I would suggest steering away from that.

The speakers I have had for a couple of years now are Dali Suite. The 5.1 set consists of 2.8 fronts, .8 centre and .8 rears with matching sub. They are recently discontinued but I got mine used at 1/3 of the retail price.

These are definitely the best speakers I have had and are a good all-rounder that plays most types of music well.

I am sure there are many other speakers that would also suit your Rotel and your listening material.

without knowing your budget and your room situation is hard to recommend you some speakers.

In stereo, the rule of tumb is to have 50% of your budget on speakers (2).
Now with home theater, I think that 70% is a good reference point.

So let say your amp is 1000, preamp si 1000, and source is 1000 (3000 total).

          - In stereo, speaker budget to match your components should be 3000$
          - In surround (including sub), 7000$

          Does this make sense ?

What do you think guys ?

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I recently demoed a set of B&W 683 speakers with a Roksan Kandy CD/amp combination and was very impressed with them. I have noticed that B&W seemed to be regularly partnered with Rotel equipment so im seriously considering them as an option.

In terms of the room it is 5m x 3m with the speakers firing down the long axis of the room. Funnily enough, I recently had the Dali Suite 2.8 speakers recommended to me by a dealer, but they can't get hold of the center and rears.

I was considering Kef iQ90s after having demoed them alongside the B&Ws but was more convinced by their looks rather than their sound. I have around £2000 to spend on a 5 speaker package minus a sub.

I shall have to get a a couple of more demos in before I make a decision I think!

            Thanks

              New 1075/1066 Setup Question
              by semicane
Recently replaced my Yamaha 5.1 receiver with a 1075/1066 set up. My question is whether or not I can use my multi room speaker selector that use to run off my Yamaha A/B selector(B setting) off of the 1075 amp. The components sound awesome in my HT setup, but I had three sets of small speakers in...

              1066 no longer working, DAMN!
              by Patrick TX
I am at a loss here. My week old 1066 is no longer working. It has blue LED, but that's it. It's acting like it's asleep. I never use the Rotel remote, & it's in it's box. I use my Panamax 5300 to power down the 1075 & 1066 in sequence. The 1066 was working perfectly last night, & this morning,...

              ROTEL 1066/1075 vs. 1055/1070
              by doodleboytoy
I am strongly considering Rotel for my new HT setup due to the numerous positive reviews I read about it. Currently, my plan is to run Paradigm Studio 60 fronts, Studio CC and Studio ADP surrounds using either a Rotel 1066 + 1075 set-up or a 1055 set-up in a 25’ x 20’ room.

              RMB-1066 vs RSX-1055 vs RMB-1075 Amplifier Quality
              by fireteam
              Hi,

I was looking at some Rotel gear as an upgrade to my system. I am currently using a Marantz SR-780 to power a set of B&W CDM SE speakers (7's, 1's and a C). I've read that B&W's are notoriously hard to power and that Rotel amplifiers are recommended. I've never owned any Rotel...
