    1069 HDMI switching questions

The 1069 has the video bypass installed yet continues to cause problems when the Motorola HD DVR is routed through it.

The problem I have is with the 4:3 override setting on the PVR.

When the box is powered up or the display turned on or the 1069 turned on or any of these in combination,(no it does not matter if they are left on all the time although I cannot account for the display as it is a projector and this woud be prohibitively expensive).
The setting will change from "off" to "480i" or "stretch" within the box.

This setting change results in a stretched picture on 4:3 material and must be changed back to view 4:3 in the correct aspect ratio.

With the bypass on the 1069 set to "on" it should pass a signal as is with no scaling, this does not appear to be the case. I have noticed routing video through the 1069 causes
sparklies on text and whatnot while a direct connection from box to display does not exhibit this and results in a cleaner picture.

I have run the box direct to the display, when I select information about the input signal on the display it states it is incoming 720P with the box 4:3 overide setting to off.

When the box is routed through the 1069 with the bypass on this same example shows 480P. It is evident the signal is being processed when routed through the 1069 which might be the reason for the stretched picture. It shoudl be showing 720P for all channels as selected on the PVR menu. For some reason non HD channels get changed within the 1069 maybe?!?

Does anyone have a HD box routed through the 1069 via HDMI?

Have they noticed these issues stated above and has anyone been able to solve the above problems?

can you snap a couple of pictures running the source direct vs through the 1069 showing the sparkles?

I have noticed that for some reason when running my HD DVD Xbox add on i get sparkles in the text of the movie menu...i dont see it anywhere else though.

I guess I could try to take a few pics, I dont know if it will display them though.

Are you connected via HDMI through the 1069?

I think I have exactly the same problem that kiwi2000 described. The way I get around it is to connect the cable box to TV directly with HDMI, and connect the cable box to the Rotel with co-ax for sound. So effectively I am not using the video scaler of the Rotel for watching cable box.

I have not noticed the sparkie problem with text, but that's probably because I did not spend a lot of time on watchin 720p signals via the Rotel.

The 1080P signal from my PS3 does show correctly on my TV via the Rotel with the HDMI Bypass set to "off".

Of course everything works bypassing the rotel, but......! video should not be effected if the bypass is installed, I believe that was the point of rotel installing the bypass mod for video.

That is a good option but I only have one HDMI connection to my display and was hoping to use the rotel as it was intended and advertised a complete a/v switcher . More than one HDMI connection does not work even with an additional HDMI switcher because HD audio must be connected directly to the 1069.

I have attempted to attach the picture of text,(too large for the site apparently) routed through the 1069 and upon closer examination the sparklies are just missing pixels. Upon close examination on the computer that is indeed what it is.

Kiwi, I have a 1069 connected to a D*Tv HD DVR via hdmi and don't experience the problems you have. Have you tried changing the settings in the dvr? I have the high def video setting set to native, screen format-original and the resolution set to 1080p. This seems to work the best in my setup which has a Mitsu 1080p DLP.
            Hope this helps!

Adding an IR receiver to RSP 1069
              by bcampbell
Hey, so I am looking to add a second receiver eye to my 1069 because when I am at my computer my couch blocks my remotes path to the 1069. When I am sitting on the couch and using it normally it is obviously fine. So my question is, would I be able to purchase just the receiver eye, with the 3.5mm...

              Ok, here are my problems.

              1. I can't seem to get digital audio out from the 1069.

All of my analog signals go through just fine. (tuner, cd player. etc...)

I have a cable box and PS3 both hooked up to the 1069 through HDMI cables (cables are 1.3a certified.)...

Hi Everyone - I've been a longtime lurker and now a first time poster. I've had the RSP 1069 for over a year and have noticed the "5.1" icon on the florescent panel never illumnates. However the "Dolby Digital" message is displayed when a program is broadcast with the DD content...
