Appears that there will soon be a new firmware released as well as a software package to replace hyperterminal for flashing the firmware.

Flashing with HyperTerminal was no problem at all. It worked okay, is easy in using, language independent and it's available in every Windows version.
Only the difference in download time with the various Windows version is a little strange, but that MS to blame, not Rotel.

With a special proggie to do the flashing, who can tell how this proggie will behave under the various Windows versions?

Right I don't have a problem using HT but I guess many people new to PC's would find it awkard to use.

I agree. I prefer to use HyperTerminal but understand it can appear clunky for the uninitiated. Hopefully the download software will be seperate from the .bin file and we have the choice. I would prefer to eliminate as many points of failure as possible. At least I know that HyperTerminal works for me.

Well Rotel was kind enough to let me beta the new software so I'll be giving it a try this weekend. From what I've seen so far it lookes pretty similar to Hyperterminal only with a nicer GUI

Is it only the update proggie you're testing? Or did it came with new firmware also?

Andrew, good luck testing and don't keep us waiting to long.

If Rotel need other testsubjects, maybe for a 1065? ....

Well that is significantly less exciting.

Recently people have been reporting that their machines have a firmware starting with 2.** while the offical latest firmware from Rotel is 1.46 so I decided to see what I could find out about the situation. As it turns out what's happened is that the 1066 and 1055 machines have been slightly modified...
