Do I really need 4 inches space around the rt1080?

I was just gonna stack it underneath my *cd player... but will any harm come to the tuner if it doesn't have 4 inches of space? I guess I find it hard to believe it would get hot enough to matter. I certainly don't want to do anything to shorten its life.

    EDIT:
I was looking at some pics on rotel's web site and they don't even give it 4inches but the manual says I should. Oh yeah, I mean 4 inches above it, the sides front and back would all have more like a foot of free space. safe or unsafe?

I really don't think it needs exactly 4 inches but, the more space you have for the unit to cool off the better. I would not use the pictures on the Rotel site for reference, they tend to set up their products as if they were art. I believe in some pictures they even put fruit besides the equipment. Your equipment should be OK as long as you have some space for the unit to cool.

My peaches ripen best when put in a brown paper bag and next to my RSP!

You should be fine, just test the unit by playing it loud for an hour or so listening to music. If it gets hot so that you can't touch the unit, then it's getting TOO warm. If you can put your hand on it and it's just warm, then you are fine.

Running the RT1080 with a 1068 and have everything working great except the "RDS and RDBS Reception" information. The manual states that by hitting display repeatedly, one should be able to set what is displayed on the 1080. I simply want the Standard (choice 1) Frequency Display but it...

            Hi Folks,

Seems like a pretty big following here for Rotel.

If you've always wanted to control your equipment from your computer/graphic user interface, touchscreen or tablet pc, but thought it was cost prohibitive, think again.

We've got a free plugin available...

As some of you know I just bought a RT-1080 tuner. I received it friday and have been working on a program to control it and view it. So far I have gotten the text from the display screen working pretty well. You see just what you see on the actual unit but there are a few bugs.

I mentioned this on the TTP and to several members outside of the forum, but I'm moving soon, December 8th to be exact, and will have a floor to myself.
