    HTM2 Free Space Question

I am in the process of designing a new AV cabinet for my system. The basic design incorporates a wooden base cabinet 18" high and 24" deep with an elevated acrylic platform sitting approx. 12 inches above the base cabinet supported by 2" diameter aluminum rods. The TV will set on top of the acrylic shelf and my HTM2 will sit under the acrylic shelf on top of the wooden cabinet. Does anyone have any idea how much room I should allow for the HTM2 in order to have it work properly? The acrylic shelf will not have any sides or back which should help with reflection issues. The speaker itself is 11" top to bottom so I was thinking I should allow at least 12". I am just not sure how much free space is needed for the tweeter.

    Thanks, Ed

Looks like this may be a question for the B & W technical staff to answer.

Hi bullitt731, thats nice looking cabinet design you have there, but, the height of the HTM2 is 13 inches high, so you may want to allow a bit more room between from your wood cabinet and the acrylic shelf. In fact quit a bit more room/height. Here are my thoughts why.

      1. You're going to want to put the HTM2D on some sort of support stand, so to isolate it from the cabinet

      2. The tweeter is designed to be exposed, so you want to leave a good few inches, about 6, from above. My HTMD2 is freestanding and my screen drops to 6 inches above, measuring from the top of the tweeter.

      just my 2pence.

I am posting this to document my DIY constrained layer technique for cabinet walls. New cabinet construction is shown here but you could add it to an existing cabinet if the front panel is removable.

I wanted to try constrained layer construction because the 1.7 cubic foot, 3/4" wall...

any ideas on hanging an htm2 from the ceiling?

My dealer is offering me a good price on an htm2, which ironically is the same one I ordered before I changed my mind and went w/ the htm1. I am seriously considering it for my room to create a 6.1 setup. The problem is finding a place to mount it. My options are as follows:

        1. Find some...

        Hi Guys,

I've been reading about different cabinet construction techniques, and I came up with something that might be of interest around here. I'm not the first person to come up with this, but I would like to bring up the idea of ceramic floor tile as a stiffening liner in cabinets....
