Hi, I have an opportunity to pick up a used set of 802's but was concerned about powering them. I currently have an RB 1090 and was wondering if anyone could tell me if this would be enough power for those speakers. Or should I be looking at upgrading my amp to say mabey a RB 1092 ? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Your RB-1090 has more than enough power to drive the 802s well....
Now we are getting into subtlies about which amp sounds better...
Re the RB-1090 vs RB-1092 they sound different (well to many people). People are passionate about which they like.. Both are good.
Start with what you have.. Get used to it.. Then when you are used to it.. You can try other amps...
But before you spent too much more - i'd try the 802Ds which are a big step up again from the 802s

Yes it will be enough but you will cheat your 802 speakers.Originally posted by RotellerHi, I have an opportunity to pick up a used set of 802's but was concerned about powering them. Go try Classé CA-M400 or CA-5200 , Electrocompaniet 400 or otherwise If your budget doesn't allow then I would give a try to Emotiva RPA-2 Reference (30 day money back guarantee, so you have nothing to loose) They are supposed to be released soon! http://www.emotiva.com/news.html:TFarming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil, and you're a thousand miles from the corn field."Dwight D. by LewisimoI have been looking at some used 802 but noticed the Nautilus is the earlier model. Can anyone shed some light on their differences, how they sound etc. You can pick up the early one's for a fairly good price these days, considering the 802D's are £7800 here in the UK still!! Nuts!-

by BlueSanderJust out of curiosity, I know everyone said the 802 (Nautilus or D) need tons of power, but have anyone really tried driving them with something as low as the 1075 amp?
Thanks

by DanRI just upgraded from 604 Series 3 to Nautilus 802's and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on how they will sound with the RB-1090?? I also use the RC-1090 pre-amp, Monster Reference 2600 power conditioner, Sony XA-20ES CD player and Sony C333ES Super Audio CD player and very good bi-wire cables....-
