Well, I finally have set up my analogue secondary system. I am using my first amp/pre - a Rotel RC-1070 and RB-1070. My source is a Rega P7 with Dynavector 20XH. The speakers are Dynaudio Audience 52SE and Sub 20A. Have yet to critically listen to it. The cabinet I will be using is an Ethan Allen Townhouse component cabinet with a marble top. This will be ideal for my TT. Previously, I had this TT 'in' an identical cabinet but it was just too awkward to take the non-attached LP lid off and operate while in a cabinet. With the TT now on top of a cabinet it will be so much less of a hassle. I am not using any exoctic ICs. Straightwire Encore II for pre > amp and Audioquest G-Snake for sub hookup from the pre. Speaker wire is a generic 14/4 cable in a sheath. Not biwiring since Dyn's don't have the dual posts.I will also put my CD-R unit (Aiwa CDR-700) in this cabinet for LP archiving.

Wow! That should be a V good sounding system!
The P7 is a well regarded TT, that IIRC, thrives on a V solid foundation. Have you ever tried using a wooden base, such as maple, under it?
The Dyna 20XH is also a great cart. Possibly the best < $400 cart out there. In fact, it is on my short list to replace the Grado Black currently on my MMF-7.
BTW,I recently added a set of Doug’s KingCat IC’s from my TT to my pre and it was one of the smartest things I have ever done. I would never have guessed a set of cables could have such a dramatic effect on the sound of my TT. It was as though I had upgraded to a $500 cart.
For a so-called secondary system, you have real jewel there, Miner!

Miner,
Sounds like a killer secondary system. Here's a picture of my office hide-away. My room doesn't allow for ideal placement of the gear but it is where I retreat to to listen to my LPs.
My system includes:- B&W 602 S3s
- Rotel RC-995 Pre
- Rotel RB-981 Amp
- Rotel RDP-980 DAC
- Philips CDR-785 CD Recorder
- Teac 4300 Reel to Reel
- Thorens TD-160 Turntable with Ortofon Super 20 Cartridge

I'm not quite sure what you mean by numbering? I record individual tracks to the Philips for the highest quality. When I'm feeling lazy, I record an entire album side to a CD-RW and take it to the computer and convert it to a .WAV file. I then use a program I bought called LP Ripper to break the .WAV file (whole side of the LP) into individual tracks. I then re-encode them into .WMA format. I use the J River Media Center v10 to manage my "Jukebox".Bluespower- Bottom

by pbarataMaybe this is a sold out topic, but after reading some posts comparing the analogue inputs (CD, TAPE, TUNER and MULTI-CHANNEL) from RSP-1066 and RSP-1068 I became confused. My doubt persists as I think that RSP-1066 is doing analogue bypass when 2CH option is selected (except that in this mode one can...-

by wkhannaThe following is a rather winded review of the effects resulting from the modifications that were recently finished on my nearly 30 year old Carver C-19 tube hybrid pre-amp with a built-in phono pre-amp.
Tom is the owner of the shop and creator of the modification specifications. He is...-

by chinetsHi Everyone,
When you connect a Rotel RCD 1072 which has HDCD and a Rotel Pre/Pro 1098 that has HDCD, does one have to connect the cables through Digital connection or Analogue connection to get the benefit and sound of HDCD?????
The Rotel 1072 does give the red light when one plays HDCD,...-

by jazznsoccerOk - I've looked at DVD players and the best one out there seems to be the Denon 5900. However, this DVD player seems to be so good that I should bypass all of my pre/pro circuitry and just analog bypass on to my amp. Now the question is why should I buy a high end pre/pro (such as Rotel 1098) to go...-
