RSP 1098 will not go off standby? Frantic!

    Hello All,

I am troubled that after I came home, and come to turn on my 1098 it will not turn on. The blue light is on, but I can not get it to turn on- using both remote 1050 and the front panel button. I tried turning off the main switch on the back and back on again. I noticed a quick flicker on the LCD or TFT display and nothing. I have also checked 8 fuses in side the chassis and none are blown. I hope this is not major!

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Mine's done that twice on me. Everytime it happens I have to power it off in the back, let it sit for about 30 seconds, power it on and power it on with the front button. Once I do that, the remote works and the unit works flawlessly again.

I can't figure out why it happens, but I always notice it when the remote won't control anything on the unit (or it won't cause it to power on).

Other than that, I'd unplug the power from it, let it sit like 5 - 15 minutes and then plug it back in and try powering it on. That should give it enough time to let all the remaining flee power dissipate from the unit.

Russ, if Dan's rear panel reset procedure works, check if your units firmware is upto date, and/or perform a factory reset.

First off, I would like to thank everyone that have replied!

I have recently unplugged every input device off the unit and same situation. Now, thinking back on what I did. I did try to leaving it off for an hour and still the same.

The symptom is like when you have the progamming dip switches on the "ON" position. It disables the front power botton. I have recently upgraded the Firmware and Eprom with no issues. The night before I rebuilt a new data cable RJ45-Serial following and verifying the pinouts from Rotel but never got it to connect. Would this affect the unit from turning on?

        Thanks
        Russ.

          Hello,

Just spoke to Sean from Rotel North America. He says that the unit is in protection mode. That there may be a stuck relay on the power module board. Has any one had their unit in protection mode?

          Thanks,
          Russ.

Great! Glad to hear it's back and you can now again enjoy it!

At least it WAS something more than just something simple you could've done yourself ha ha. That would've sucked!

                Hello
In the last couple of months that I've owned my 1098, I've had a problem occur twice that I can't figure out. Today was the second time that when I went to power on the 1098 with the remote, it wouldn't respond. I then tried the front panel power button with the same results. Both times...

                Hi,
I just recived my RSP 1098 and I have a question:
My standby button on the front is a little "loose" it doesn't feel like the power button on the RB-1090 power amplifier, is this normal ?

                Best regards

The manual says that in Standby mode you have to press the power on the front of the unit, or use the power on the remote control to turn the unit on. I'm finding that pressing ANY key on the remote turns on the unit. This is a little bit annoying, because I have a Pronto Remote, which I have programmed...

                Hi All,
In preperation for my RSP-1098 arriving next week, I was reading the manual and have a couple of basic setup questions:

                1. I currently use a 12v trigger on my Onkyo to turn on power to my two Rotel power amps. This happens when I power on the Onkyo from Standby mode. Looking...

Hello all, I have had my RSP-1098 now for 4 months, I have been extremely happy with it so far. I have upgraded my software to V2.1.2. Some things I noticed:

                1. When calibrating your speakers using the test generator from the 1098's menu, *do not* exit the entire menu system quickly by...
