Old Stereo AM/FM tuner... Worth anything?

    Old Stereo AM/FM tuner... Worth anything?

    First I'd like to thank everyone one these forums, I'm not new to Home Theater or electronics, but am new to building my own speakers and such. Everyone here seems so helpful and friendly here. -- Anyway

    So while digging through the In law's basement I ran into this old-school Rotel tuner. It's in good condition, pictures if it's worth it. The model number is RV-555

    Anyone have any info? If it's not very valuable it's just going to get yard-saled or recycled.

      Find out if the am/fm part still works (it may have great sensitivity or selectivity) and if it does you might want to keep the tuner than make it a tag sale item.

                  This is it! Man if it goes for 100$ on e-bay I guess I'll bench test it and see where it's at. I'm not really into Am/Fm, and I'm short of space. Anyone interested?

                      I've been looking at buying a Rotel tuner RT-1080 but at $750 CDN it seems that there might be better options out there!
                      My only beef is that i'd like the system to match.

                      ...But what makes a tuner worth so much and is it worth it? I can buy other brands for a third the cost so...

                      I was wondering if any of you had the chance to compare a Rotel separate tuner, the RT-1080 to the tuner in the Rx-1050 receiver. Would it be worth it to purchase the separate tuner or is the tuner in the 1050 already good enough?

                      Anyone use recycled cotton, aka. acoustic cotton?

                      I've looked into using this as opposed to fiberglass (OC703 in particular) in my speaker build due to, well it's "greener" and appears to have nice acoustical properties.

                      Has anyone used it? Is it worth pursuing?
