    Rotel receiver

Usually I am for separate components, but I wonder about the sound quailty of receivers like 1057, 1058 and 1067. I wonder how these play together with TrueHD and DTS master audio? Did anyone compared these to setups of separate processors and amps? Advice much appreciated.

    I never heard 1057
But when I am in Hamburg
I often listened to the 1056 and the experience was terrible

Your experience is bizarre beyond belief. The 1056 is a wonderful receiver which is sonically far beyond its competition.

I stayed in Hamburg for a week
Every day I went to the shop to listen to 1056
I thought it may be bad analog section of 1056

Well, it's odd, but I found the RSP-1069 to be much better than the RSP-1068, so it happens.

If it sounded so bad why did you go back everyday to listen to it?

To the OP, all of the Rotel receivers I have heard sound excellent. I still have an RSX-972 that sees almost daily duty.

As far as your question about TrueHD and dts HD MA.......only the 1058 will accept and process PCM audio over HDMI. The others as well as the 1058 will accept decoded analog audio through multi channel inputs.

To your other question about separates, I prefer my Rotel receiver to my Carver pre-amp/amp combo that now resides in my garage. Its not that the Rotel is better, just different. As far as a full fledged 5 or 7 channel home theater with separate pre/pro and amp(s), I'm sure that would be better than most any receiver.

I have both a Rotel 1057 for HT and Rotel separates (RC-1070 and RB-1080) for 2 channel. Of course their applications in my case are different, I love the sound of both.

I am looking at adding a separate amp (1075?) to the HT set-up and maybe a separate pre/pro down the road if current technology slows down some and Rotel catches up. However, this is all probably more of a symptom of "upgradeitis" than having any disappointment about the sound of the 1057. It is such an upgrade (to my ears) over the few year old and more expensive Yamaha receiver it replaced, I'd be completely content to just leave it as it is and not fool with it again.

As far as TrueHD and DTS master audio, I'm afraid I'm behind the times ops: and still using standard DVD, so I can't comment. While I know Rotel DVD players aren't necessarily the best, I'm a bit of a victim of wanting my components to match  , so I'm dragging my feet until maybe they'll make a Blu-Ray player. For now, I'm happy enough as I am, I don't need the latest greatest...yet!

If you have to have separates, you could always buy the 1058 for the upgraded audio, and an amp, use it a while, and later purchase the pre/pro and move receiver elsewhere in the home if you have another spot you could use it...

Since I would need LPCM the 1058 seems to be the best option. However I found this in the user manual p. 19 "Note: HDTV component video is subject to HDCP copy protection. It may not display 720p or 1080i when the source signal incorporates copy protection." I am not sure how to understand this. A receiver with that price tag should be able to handle HDMI when between HDMI compatible components. Is someone using the 1058 with a Blueray player?

I thought the 1056 might be the breaking in time
So I went back to listen again and again

                    But results were dissapointed

If break-in occurs, I would imagine it as getting better, not just "acceptable". You must be more optimistic than most. :T

Has anyone else heard anything about this unit?

I was recently in our local Rotel dealer here in Vancouver and asked about the RSX-1056 which I am interested in. After speaking with the sales guy for a few mintues and finding out they did not have the 1056 for demo, he mentioned that...

Has anyone gone from rotel 1056 to the new 1057?Has anyone pondered the thought? If you did was it worth it?Reason i ask is i'm thinking about it and cant decide if it's worth it just for the simplicity of HDMI.Getting the HD-A1 next week and hate the thought of switchers.

Would someone tell me the differences between the RSX-1056 and the RSX-1057. Are they significant and do they justify the price difference in the used marketplace?

                        The used market : RSX-1056 vs RSX-1055
                        by corysmith01
The title pretty much says it all. I'm searching the used market and want to make my first Rotel purchase. There's no way I can afford a new model, so the 1057 is out. But, I do see both the 1056 and the 1055 pop up frequently. Actually, my local dealer has dealer demos of both, separated by about $100....
