    Wishlist for new Rotel products

    Hi
I thought it could be fun if we where to make a list of what we wish Rotel would make! I know that it might not lead to anything but it is good to read what other Rotel fans would like to se from Rotel.

I will get the ball rolling with my wish.As some of you might remember we have a debat of where the decoding of surround sound should take place, in the player or processor? I was the only one who would like it to be in the processor,so with that in mind I would love to see Rotel do a new version of their highly acclaimed RC 1082 which should include 2 sets of 7.1 input(1 for DVD and 1 for BlueRay)that way you will get the best stereo sound for us that hear music more than we see a flick, and we also get a good surround experience from the built in decoders in the players.

I would also like to see Rotel make a good power amp where they combined the new class D with the old AB with a good toridal power supply, like Mark Levinson and Bryston are doing,

I hope you will play along and come out with some ideas too

    Best Mikael

    Rbd - 2000

Blu Ray - DVD A - CD player

    - Decodes and Bitstream all new audio formats
    - HDMI 1.3 (HDMI 1.1 would be fine with me)
    - Two high quality DACs to meet quality of Rotel 1072 for CD play back
    - Ditigal INPUT so music streaming from my server can pass through the DACs of the player (only if DACs are on par to the quality of the 1072)
    - BD profile 2.0 and fully able to upgrade
    - 20 GB hard drive (min)
    - OSD option for Audio and Video bitrate meter

    inputs:
    1 Optical Digital or Coax
    1 Ethernet

    Outputs:
    1 HDMI
1 analog L and R for two channel CD play back

For the above I would pay $2,500.

Do a better 7.1 surround sound processor with outstanding DACs, HDMI audio formats, HDMI/video pass through and a Gennum GF9350 VXP™ Digital Image Processor for maximum versatility. Most are integrating PC/MAcs into there systems and that should not mean bad sound.

How about some 200-250 watt class D amps to fill the void between their 100 and 500 watt offering. In 2, 3 and 5 channel versions.

        Main System:
        B&W 802D, HTM2D, SCMS

I think rotel already have video scaler of RVE 1060
Why it put the video into the processor so the price of 1069 is up to high for many of us

How about a processor that is supposed to work without having to bypass a feature.

With over 300 reads and just 5 comments, that can only mean that your are very happy with what Rotel can offer. And that is a good thing, but I have read in other threads that some of you would like a new or at least the RB 1090 back.

I also keep wishing for the above 3 channel amp, but keep hearing that is unlikely to happen... Given the flexibility brought by the ICEPower modules, I can't see why not !

I agree with a high quality versatile Blue-Ray player.

I also would like to maybe see a two channel pre-amplifier that is a step between what they have and maybe a CP-500. Something affordable, simple, and has a phono preamp in it. Maybe also, HT Bypass and balanced in and outs.

Maybe some higher end amplifiers also. I've never heard the class D ones that they have, so maybe they already have them.

A pure audio processor which can do all audio formats out there including decoding dts hd master audio. HDMI video pass through only would be sufficient.

I have to agree with you and most of the above. The perfect Rotel product for me would be what the 1069 could've been, or could be with modification:

                            HDMI 1.3
scaler that works with no issues
full HD audio onboard decoding, all formats, including DSD

This last point is the important, imho, because (if I may be momentarily pretentious enough to pretend to speak for a large group of consumers) that is ideally why we buy separate components. Even if there is no real audible advantage to onboard decoding I prefer to know that my pre-pro is doing the processing, even if the "advantage" is purely in my head. In my case the dacs on my 1068 are much better than what I'm using as a transport, so there has been a real advantage to onboard decoding.

Speaking of transports, while I'm dreaming I think Rotel should market a fully universal disc player (it may be impossible, but this is my fantasy, so bear with me), including the HD-DVD, SACD, and DVD-Audio formats. To paraphrase my favorite author, "One player to read them all." This is what (the great mythical group I'm speaking for) consumers really want, not to have to buy four different players to play your libraries of obsolete formats. If combining Blu-ray/HD-DVD with SACD/DVD-A/DVD/CD is technically impossible, then market two players, one of each. And make them available in single disc and multi-disk changers models. As far as I know there are no universal players on the market with the build quality of Rotel, so I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who are just waiting for Rotel to take our money.

Oh yeah, and do it all with Rotel's historically excellent sonics and reasonable price point. Heck, while I'm dreaming they should just give them to me free...

I thought I was the only one who wanted all the decoding done in the processor. So a processor that sounds as good in stereo as the RC 1082 and can decode all the new formats and do video upscaling perfect, would be the perfect Rotel product for me too.

Denon has a transport that can play BD,DVD og cd,that would be a great product from Rotel.

                                  My #1 wish from Rotel:

The RSX-1058 at the price of the RSX1057.

I'd like to upgrade from my RSX-1056, but not at $2k.

As die-hard stereo two-channel fan, btw owner of the RB-1090, I can only second this idea...

What I want to see from Rotel is - big, muscular, FULL-BALANCED (!!!) POWER STEREO AMP and MONO BLOCKS as well, with big bad heatsinks on sides, rated at approx. 250-350Wpc, with better case build quality than 1090 itself provides.

In short - I would like to see a competent Rotel's reply to Krell and alike stuff. I am sure Rotel can do it - far better than RB-1090 (which is still amazing amp!).

I declare myself OUT from any future purchase of Rotel products until this bright day... As far as Rotel deals with comic ICE-powered hermafrodits, I am happy with my combo RC/RB-1090.

                                    Cheers!

                                      Well,we can only wish!!

I would like them to replace the rsp1098 with,

Ten fully ballanced pre-outs,and the norm of which they provide

The new DVDO scaling solution,(for those who want/feel they need it)

                                      decoding of all audio formats

Two sets of 7.1 channel ins(maybe one ballanced)

6 or 8 hdmi ins and definitly two outs

And two sets of two channel ballanced audio inputs

                                      And usb,ethernet and rs232 connections

I'll pay $6500 and more IF I have to.
