    HD-DTS and HD-Dolby support?

Any news on Rotels new generation of processors? I'm very tempted to upgrade to a new processor, but want to have the support for HD formats for a bluray player.

What is everyone else doing? Are you waiting or just purchasing now>?

Spending the money on upgrading/adding speakers and waiting until the time is right to buy a blu ray player and processor. Putting my money to a SVS PB ultra 13 rather than blowing it on an a new format player/processor which has a lot of potential to improve and go down in price over a year or so. I'm sure adding the SVS to my system will give me an improvement much larger than going from dvd to blu ray. I don't really care when rotel decides to release a bluray player and processor. I can wait

          True.

I'll keep my eye out over then next 6 to 9 months and see what comes out.

SVS is a great subwoofer, but too big for my room design.

The SPL1200R is also a great sub I did hear it and was very impressed. But I have the space for the SVS so why not lol. But yeah wait a bit for the blu ray stuff to settle down a bit until companies like marantz, denon etc... start releasing mainstream blu-ray players.

Why does it have to be a Marantz or Denon to be a good player? There are some new Sony's as well as Panasonic players coming out that look extremely good. I can't imagine the Marantz or Denon's being so much better the merit the extra cost when these lower cost players are extremely good to start with. I don't know just my opinion I guess I think it's been discussed before that its a pretty slim chance that Rotel will release any sort of HD oriented receiver as far as HDMI 1.3 (at least this year or even next year possibly?) and what not. Although I don't think that HDMI 1.3 is really needed but a nice 1.2 pre/pro would be nice With maybe the new Sony BDP-S550. Most new players coming out will do internal decoding and pass the bitstream over HDMI I believe.

I'm on the sidelines as well and making due with my RSX-1057 until the new processors have been out for some time. Even when they are unveiled I will still wait about a year until they are stable. Although, all the feedback from users hearing the new HD formats have said it is like going from regular 480i to high definition.

Until then, I am enjoying my new JL F113 sub, which is awesome musically and for movies. Next upgrade would be a set decent rears and a second JL F113.

What I meant was, until companies with not as much money to blow start making mainstream players then I will know that bluray has settled down. Usually its panasonic and sony that release the new stuff and is followed by companies like marantz, denon and so on that aren't as big.

I was wondering if anyone has seen the red protection light start to blink, while listening to music. I was listening to the radio through my rotel stuff and I noticed at one point that the little red protection light on my 1085 was blinking. The music was not affected, but I was getting nervous so I powered everything down. Am I worrying over nothing?

I could not agree more Denon and Marantz take the Sony and Pana drive anyway and repackage it!!

AS I posted before is that at least for this year none of their gear and (probably never)will offer decoders since all their gear can handle 7.1 PCM (per Rotel). Thus, all that is required is a player that decodes the high def codecs and transmits them either through milti out 7.1 analog (a pain in the rear if you ask me) or HDMI (an abviously better solution). Their point, and its bearing out true, is that decoders for the new formats are moving to the players rather than the processors. So simply keep your eyes open for Rotel HDMI gear like the RSP1069 and new receivers with HDMI connectivity. Plus don't worry about HDMI 1.3, it is only necessary to stream the HD formats to the processor, if the decoding is ocurring in the player HDMI 1.1 has it covered. As we have discussed before HDMI 1.3 has no use yet.

The Denon BD players are based on the Panasonic players but that is where it ends. They are nothing alike inside. The Denon's have much bigger power supplies, better chassis', better quality parts all around. They are not the same by any stretch.
