    Balanced or Unbalanced Connections

Which is better to use on a Rotel RMB-1095.... balanced or unbalanced connection.
    I plan to get a Rotel RSP-1068.
    I have B&W 703's and HTM7.

Either. The 1095 is not a true balanced amp and any signal input on the balanced connectors gets converted to unbalanced and routed through those inputs anyway.

Since the 1068 doesn't have balanced outputs, you would have to get unbalanced to balanced cables. Those would get converted back to unbalanced inside the amp. So I would use unbalanced cables and get the same sound for less money..

Are you saying that the balance connection is converted to unbalanced and passed as unbalanced from the balanced connection on the back of the amp? I did think it was strange for Rotel to create an amp with balanced connections; but, they do not have a processor with balanced connections.

They do (or did) make 2 channel pre amp (RC-1090) which was balanced.
A full balanced sytem will have a blacker back ground, with a lower noise floor. Most are far more critical of 2 channel than they are surround modes.
I was a skeptic, but am now an advocate, as I run balanced from source to amps for all inputs, and its very noticable.

So, the balanced connections on the back of the 1095 are not really balanced. Isn't that false advertisement?

Right, some pre-amps only have balanced outputs.

another use I can think of for preamps that have both balanced and unbalanced outputs are:

balanced outputs going to the 1095
                  unbalanced outputs going to subwoofers

                  :T

                    Bypass mode for unbalanced inputs?
                    by netarc
Just got my C2 a couple of days ago - have a question re: the bypass mode ...

If I understand the manual correctly, the C2's bypass mode *only* works for a balanced analog input??

What, then, if one is running an external DAC (or a good CD player) that only has unbalanced...

                    RB 1090/RC 1090 balanced and unbalanced ?
                    by sonicbaer
                    Hello

I hope someone can answer a couple of questions regarding the RC 1090 and the RB 1090 balanced connection switch...

What does the switch do ? why does the manual say that both balanced and unbalance connections should not be used at the same time ?

                    Mixing balanced and unbalanced
                    by sbank
                    Hi All,

I have a question pertaining to mixing balanced and unbalanced interconnects. My dealer recommends in keeping everything one or the other. (eg all balanced or all unbalanced)

I currently have a Rotel RB-1080 2-channel Amp for my fronts. I've been using for quite...

The truth about balanced inputs and outputs
                    by shuang1234
I have noticed a number of posts disqualifying the Rotel 1098 from consideration due to lack of balanced connections. I stumbled upon a few interesting articles that explain pros and cons about balanced connections.

In a nutshell, unless you have serious noise problems or a high-end system...
