    7.1 Set Up Help

    Hi, could someone please tell me where I would plug the corresponding cables into my RSP 1066 using a RB 1090 for dedicated music and my RMB 1095 for HT. Do I have to run the HT fronts to the extra center input or into the rear center? I need a detailed explaination. I am new and confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Roteller,

    This is how I would set up for 7.1:

    1066 pre-outs:

    Front L/R --> RB-1090 L/R
    Centre 1 --> RMB-1095 Centre
    Surr 1/2 --> RMB-1095 Surr L/R
    CB 1/2 --> RMB-1095 Front L/R

    Centre 2 from your RSP-1066 is unused and connect up Sub 1 (&2) direct to your subwoofer.

    Cheers,

    Darren

      I'm a little confused on your question. Are you:

      1) going to a true 7.1 surround sound system

      2) Staying at a 5.1 surround system, but want to use a RB1090 for your front speakers (and possibly only when listening to music)

      3) Staying at a 5.1 surround system, but want to use a RB1090 to run an additional set of stereo speakers for music only?

      Each one hooks up different. If it's #1, do what Darren said.. If it's #2, just hook up the RB1090 in place of the front channels of you RMB1095 and use the RB1090 for music and HT. No reason to switch amps on the same speakers.

      If it's #3 let us know. Too much to type if it's not the case..

          In that case, why not do the following:

          (1) Connect the 1066 --> 1095 to FL/FR/C/SL/SR (match pre-out to 1095 input)
          (2) Connect the RB-1090 to the Zone 2 pre-outs (L/R)

          That should be easiest (assuming you have 5 HT plus 2 dedicated stereo speakers)

            Exactly, assuming two separate sets of speakers, hook it up like Darren said.

            Any source you want to listen to on zone2 will need to have the analog (red/white RCA) cables hooked up as well. You won't get anything out zone2 from devices only connected digitally.

            Hooking it up this way gives you two independent zones. Separate power, volumes and sources. You'll have to hit the ZONE button on your remote and any button after that will effect the stereo zone. As long as you keep hitting source or volume buttons, you will still control zone2. If you don't hit a button within 5-10 seconds, you return to normal operation. So..

            ZONE
            POWER(or ON depending on remote)
            CD

            Will get the CD playing out zone2. To adjust volume, hit ZONE then VOL+/-
            To turn it off, hit ZONE, POWER (or OFF).

            Again, if you only have one set of front speakers, just use the RB-1090 all the time in combination with your RMB-1095.

            The 1066 doesn't have a Zone2 trigger output, so you will have to turn the RB-1090 on/off by hand (or leave it on).

              Thanks

              Thanks dmcgowan and Kevin for your responses. Are all the Rotel processors designed to hook up 2 amps this way when using 7 speakers? I understand what you mean kevin by having to use analog cables, I was just curious if any of the newer models allow you to use digital cables in this configuration :T ? Thanks again guys!!!!

                Nope, still analog. All their units are going to work the same. Aside from the new units that actually have zones 2,3 & 4 out.

                  I've just assembled a system, consisting of using a denon 3805, running preouts to an rb1090 and a rmb1095 ( unbalanced).

                  I am only getting weak sound out of the main right and left front but nothing out of the other five speakers which are connected to the Rmb1095.

                  I'm debating getting a 1090 vs 1092 for my N802's.

                  I searched the old threads, but couldn't find much specifically about the N802's in an A/B test between the 2.

                  I plan on using them in a 5.1 system with N804's as rears, HTM1 as a center, and powered with a RMB1095....

                  Hi guys

                  I have a Rotel RB1090, RMB1095 and RMB1565. It is normal for the 1090 and 1095 to be warm to hot while operating because of them being Class AB. All my amps are in a closed cabinet with improvised ventilation. The 1565 is cool throughout operation due to it being a class D. The...
