Best Quality Audio in a Rotel DVD Player?

I've put together a little bookshelf system and the only blemish is the lack of a Rotel player in the stack....

    RC 1070
Eye Sore Player (brand to remain nameless)
    RB 1080
    805's

Right now, there's no TV but there will be soon. So I need a DVD, but ideally I'm looking for audio quality first. So with the introduction of the new DVD players from Rotel does one of them stand out? Are either of the current players a step up from past models? Is there a past model that surpasses the current offerings? Or should I wait for a future offering?

I've trusted my ears so far, but I know there are differences in Rotel players (both A/V quality and reliability) so all collective knowledge is much appreciated.

(My apologies to the Mods if this thread already exists)

Audio quality for CD's or on DD/DTS?

If CD's, the best bet is to get an Oppo player for DVD's and a RCD-1072 just for CD playback.

If just for DVD audio, I was real happy with my RDV-1050. The newer RDV-1045 is essentially the same but with crippled DVDA support. The RDV-1060 was a nice sounding player, but did have some transport issues. I've been really happy with the audio and video on RDV-1093, but it's way too expensive for what it does.

Thanks much for reply and incite...

I expect this setup will end up being 60% CD 2 ch. listening, 20% DVD, and 20% TV.

Ideally, I'd like to keep this stack as modest as possible. Replacing one component with a 'universal' player is the goal. Since everything else is Rotel, it'd sure be purdy if it all matched

Anything past or present from Rotel fit the bill?

I really enjoyed my RDV-1050. Didn't play too many CD's on it, but with full DVDA support they always sounded good. The RDV-1060 sounded better with CD's, but with the transport issues I wouldn't want one without a warranty. Other then that, no other model I can think of.

          POLL: Which determines audio quality?
          by audiofreak7
Sitting here reading a well respected A/V magazine. IT states the audio quality is determined by the reciever or surround processor NOT the DVD player. I have heard for years that its both,.....but I've always wondered why DVD players that sell for around $400 or less, nothing is mentioned about the...

          Review samsung DVD-HD1000
          by Lex
Here's my "new" DVD player, the Samsung DVD-HD1000.

This DVD player was really a surprise. I'd not heard of it, until accidentally finding one used on the net. Not knowing what it was, I went to the Samsung site to research it. What I saw was a beautiful player, that exuded...
