What speakers are a good match with Rotel?

I am planning on upgrading my speakers from Mirage to B&W. I am hoping to hear what others think of their Rotel and B&W combination. I was thinking on changing the center channel first to the htm1. I need to do this step by step or my wife will not be supportive. I am cognizant of the fact that this is not the best way to do it from a sound stage (imaging) perspective.

    My equipment is:

Rotel 1098, 1095 and 1080 amps. Current speakers are Mirage 895's for front and an MC2 center.

Any opinions on other good speaker matches for Rotel would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

B&W speakers are an excellent match for Rotel electronics. They are both owned by the same holding company, so it is a very popular combination.

    I currently have the RSP-1068 / RMB-1075 combination driving B&W 805S / HTM4S / SCMS speakers, and they sound wonderful together.

      Thanks Brad,

Did you audition any other B&W center channel speakers before deciding on the HTM4S. It looks similar in design to the former HTM2. How does it perform for dialogue intelligibility?

      Thanks,

      Mark

Since all of Rotels amps are of a high current design they would do well with any speakers.

I use Paradigms for the high performance to price ratio.

Not really. The HTM4S is essentially an 805S turned sideways (same specs), so it was really the only logical choice to maintain a seamless front soundstage. I did move up to the HTM4S from a CDM CNT, however, and the HTM4S is quite a step above that series in dialog clarity.

Klipsch RF-7's go well with rotel

You can find them for around $1000. Don't know about Canada though. I would be very reluctant to have them shipped. There was /Is ??? a set on audiogon for $900 near NYC. They weigh 90 lbs each.

                    Hi,

I am using Kef Speakers (2 iq9, 2 iq3, 1 iq6). I have listened the B&W 703, Dali, Focal Lab. Me and my girlfriend where convinced by the sound of the kef.

                    Greetings,

I'm more familiar with matching speakers to room acoustics and listening preferences than to amplifiers. As much as we hate to admit it Decor and WAFs ("wife" acceptance factors) play a role also. Sounds like you have some fun auditioning ahead of you. Rotel amps should drive pretty much anything

I switched to a B&W HTM1. Now I just need to find some 803's and I will be set. Should I set my 1098 for large or small speakers with the above noted combination?

                            Thanks,

Anything in the Klipsch Reference series....(and a nod to my old friends...the Heritage-various speakers also).
Klipsch offer so much detail in reproduction....the RF-7 specifically is popularly used with Rotel amps with great success. Check these out.
I use an RB1080 dedicated to running my two RF-7 and an RMB-1075 for the rest of my surround system. Very cost effective.....very efficient....excellent two channel repro...and superb surround for movies and SACD/DVD-a
I've heard the B&W line. They are excellent but overpriced and not quite as "open" as the Klipsch Reference series.
UFObuster, an audio gourmand....some is good, more is better, and too much is just about right.
                                Rotel RSP-1068, RB-1080, RMB-1075, RT-1084. Denon DVD-3910. Klipsch RF7,RC7,RF5,RC-35,RSW10.

I have been having Rotel (RSP1098 and RMB1095) and B&W 700 (703, 704, HTM7 and ASW750) series setup for almost 4 years now, very happy with the setup. I did added RB1092 power amp to drive my front 703 speakers. I really like the 800 series but don't think I can afford the upgrade at this moment.

Hello, I think that it depends on many fators: Room accoustic, Music style and your personal preferences in sound (color - house curve - ref level). It is difficult to say more without thoses variables, and do not forget that a "perfect match" for someone, could be a bad one in your room acoustic.

I got RSP-1098 with RMB-1075 to drive some old YAMAHA NS-1000 Studio monitors with Berylium mids and highs. I just add 2 homemade 12"subs drived by a RB-1080. My room is 22 x 18 and and I like to listen many music styles including electronic with deep sub base. NS-1000 with subs are a good match for me. You can find a pair of thoses wonderful speakers on ebay for arround 600$.

                                            Here is a link about NS-1000 :

You will find all the specs at the bottom of that page, clic on butons.

I have Aerial Acoustics 7b and CC-3b center channel. Sweet sound. I used to have Paradigm Studio 40's and they sounded great also, just not on the level of the aerials.

The B&W CM7 is a nice match with my RC1070/RB1070 combo.

                                                        which rotel for rti10

                                                        Hello everyone
                                                        I am looking for a suitable amp for my polkaudio rti10 towers(300 w rms,8ohms,89db)
I'll be usin it primarily for music.so please suggest me the rite amp.
My choice in order of preference is
                                                        1)RA 06
                                                        2)RA 1062
                                                        3) RX 1052-receiver
will these amps drive the rti 10s well?
is a 60/70 watt int amp better than a 100 watt receiver for music?

I had B&W with Rotel, nice setup, moved to Revel with Rotel and it is much better.

Kinda like Who came first the chicken or the egg but...

I feel finding the right speakers needs to happen first. Then matching electronics with them. Owning Rotel first is fine but there are so many different speakers that sound great. I for one have not heard them all on Rotel but find these to work out well.

Dynaudio-One of the worlds best sounding speakers for everything. They can get very pricey but worth every penny.

B&W- good choice and most use them with Rotel as most feel it's a perfect match.

Polk Lsi series- I owned these years ago and found Rotel really worked well. They are a laid back type speaker and Rotel gave them more life. Great combo.

Totem- Anther one of those companies who do everything right. They are audiophile grade and do home theater extremely well.

Energy- I was suprised listening to these on Rotel as I hated them on Integra. I also heard them on Denon and thought these are terrible speakers. On the Rotel they sounded more there price tag and I felt they could hang in there with others in there class.

Speakercraft- inwalls and inceiling speakers. Rotel sounds like they where made for this job. Home theater with Speakercraft is so emotional. I was completely happy with this setup and felt if I wanted to go all inwall theater, This would be a good choice.

Thats all I remember listening to and being impressed. Hope this helps.
