    RLC* Balanced power output

I have been looking at the Rotel RLC products and could not see where they mention they have balanced power outputs. Do they not have this in either of the RLC lines?

Considering I had never heard of it until you mentioned it, I'm going to say no. After reading several pages about it, I'm 99.9% sure the answer is no.

Looks like Furman has them on some models. Several of the pages I read mentioned that balanced power is good for certain situations, but not needed for the majority of installations. What issues are you trying to overcome that makes you think you need balanced power outputs?

      Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. I had been reading the information below and it seems like balanced power would better all around for equipment if you can get it. I had seen (at least one) of the Furman that have two balanced outputs, but it was running around 2K. I am looking for something to be able to provide clean stable power to my system, hoping it maybe able to provide a little more to it.

Hmm... The article appears legit, as it's:

Reprinted from the November, 1994 issue of "MIX Magazine" with permission
from Intertec Publishing Company Inc. (c) Copyright 1994 all rights reserved
But the author is: Martin Glasband

        who is...

Martin Glasband is the President of Equi=Tech Corporation in Selma, Oregon.
And where is this article reprinted on?

        http://www.equitech.com/articles/enigma.html

I see a little conflict of interest there.

Not saying it's not a better power supply system, just that most of the pro's needing on for a home system seem to come from Equitech, who just happen to make balanced power systems.

I just recently added the RLC-1080 to my system. It got rid of my cable ground loop problem I know for sure. I changed too much of my system out at the same time to say if it made a difference in sound quality, but I was sure glad I had it this past Sunday. Wife was cooking breakfast and noticed the bacon was taking longer to cook then normal. Getting up to check I noticed the 1080 was running on the battery. A quick check of the voltage showed the power company was spiking close to 150 volts! The lights were bright, but the microwave sure didn't like it. The whole day the lights were pulsing and the 1080 was switching back and forth like crazy. I saw the power going from 100v to 150v in 1 minute span.

System never missed a beat. System might of worked fine through the whole thing without it, but I don't want to find out.

          Kevin,

To be honest, I did not even make a correlation that he worked for a company that produced these devices (really did not start looking up the company name). Do you disagree with his information? I just read it as an article that to me, sounded very reasonable. I then went out and googled for "balanced power home theater" and looked at the company below. Unfortunately most of their products are a little to high in price for me, but I believe they are comparable to the 1080 you have. Thanks for your responses.

Does Rotel SS Processors have Balanced Outputs
            by sidvicious02
I've noticed that the Rotel Amps (1075/1095) both have XLR balanced inputs for hookup to a processor. However, it appears that neither of the Rotel surround sound processors (1066/1098) have XLR balanced outputs. Are the outputs not balanced or are they tip-ring-sleeve balanced on the RCA outputs?...

Using both balanced and RCA outputs on SSP

This set up may seem a little strange, but I think I can get it to work for me. Downstairs I have have my SSP 600 connected to my 5100 using the balance outputs. I decided to buy a pair of B&O beolab 8000 speakers for a listening room upstairs. Since these speakers are active all I did was connect...

            by shuang1234
I have noticed a number of posts disqualifying the Rotel 1098 from consideration due to lack of balanced connections. I stumbled upon a few interesting articles that explain pros and cons about balanced connections.

In a nutshell, unless you have serious noise problems or a high-end system...
