    RB 1080 + Klipsch RF7 = ??????

I need to purchase an external amp to get the best out of the RF 7's. Would it be feasable to run the 1080 into my Denon 4802 to run the 7's whilst the Denon supplies the centre and rears ? At present the 7's sound a little on the thin side with a bit too much shrill up top.I'm told good clean power is a solution so does anyone have any experience with the 1080 and the 7's ?
    Thanks

    I have a RB 1090 with my RF-7's.

I would get a used RB 1090. Other than the current Rotel Class D's at $5K, the 1090 is the best Rotel ever made. There is one on audiogon. You may be able to get it for less than the $1250 asking price. Make sure it's packed well for shipping. It's 89 lbs.

I have heard zambands system, and there is nothing thin or shrill about it! A separate 2-ch amp of at least 125W or more for your fronts could only help if you are running, what are for the most part, full range mains, IMHO.

        Changes, Many changes.

There have been many changes to the system, all for the better, since you heard it. I know it sounded great before, but it sounds so much better now you would hardly recognize it. Maple blocks, cones and isoblocks under all components, and speakers are on maple blocks and spiked with cones under the blocks and between the blocks and speakers. Tube dampers from Herbies, and a bigger, better power conditioner. There is an Alan Maher power Enhancer on order. You are welcome to come hear it again. Of course snacks and beverages as well.

I have had my 7's for a couple of years, gone through many amp changes with them, and by far the Rotel 1080 was my favorite 2 channel ss amp. I had used carvers, the RB 1090 by Rotel, amongst a few tubed and the 1080 is a shoe in with them.
              Enjoy.............

Your idea is an excellent solution.
I was running my RF-7s in 5.1 mode with a Yamaha RX-v2600 (130w/ch). It was OK but not much better than the RF-5s that I had before. I followed threads in the Klipsch forum to the Rotel site. Bought the RB-1080. Used the Yammi as pre/pro for the 1080 to the RF-7 with the surrounds/center run off the Yammi. It was good....peace descended on the land and all was well....except, I liked it so much, I ended up getting the Yammi out of the system all-together and went all separate.

You will really like what separate out-board dedicated power will do for the RF-7. Most on the Klipsch site think the 200 w/ch of the RB-1080 is enough. You also get an excellent two-channel mode for pure stereo as a bonus.
                  I'd strongly consider it.

I was advised by a Rotel dealer today that by bridging 2 RB 1070's together would deliver a superior sound from the rf 7's to the results I would get from the RB 1080 . He is prepared to do both the 1070's for the same price as the RB1080 which makes me suspicious. I dont trust dealers so I turn to the trustworthy forum who may have some experience with this issue or at least an informed opinion .Thanks

                        Also call Rotel

Ask a techy there about comparing 1080, 1090 and the 1070 bridging idea. Try to talk with Shane if you can. They are in Mass. USA. Are you in Australia?

Sounds like he has some RB-1070's to move. It's generally advised not to bridge an amp if you don't have to. The distortion level goes up and the drive able ohm load goes higher as well.

Even though Klipsch speakers are generally pretty efficient, the RF7's do need some good clean power. That's where the better transformers and power supply of a 1080 will come into play. It's not always about more power.

Thanks Kevin . It appears the best option is to go with the RB 1080 in my situation . It states that the unit has a damping factor of 1000. Whats the all about ?

Damping factor is how well the amplifier can stop the speaker from moving when needed. It can be described as the quickness of the amp or how 'tight' the sound is.

Higher is better, but it's generally accepted that anything over 1-200 doesn't add an audible difference.

After reading reviews and doing some search/research I have decided to go for Rotel 1066 and Rotel 1095 or 1090.

I need help here as to how do I make my this a 7 channel capable system because 1095 is limited to 5 channel.

I will have to buy another amp 1080 or 1090....
