    Front End Damage..HELP

Hi all, I hope someone can help. My worst nightmare came true last night. My brother and I were moving my equipment from one rack to a new rack and lets just say the RB 1090 had a little fall. Sonically still fine but cosmetically looks like Shite!!! Can one replace the front heat sinks themselves or should it be brought in to a service center. Would like to do it myself, how difficult would this be??? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I once asked about replacing a silver face plate with a black one - I was told it would need to be shipped to Rotel for that so I would assume that heatsinks would require the 'home office' to do also.

Well I don't even think you can buy the pieces separately. With everything involved I wouldn't want to attempt it anyway.

I called Rotel and they told me I could purchase the front heatsink for about 70.00. Then I called a service centre and they said they would repair for about 50.00 labour. I feel that this is a pretty fair deal. They recomended that I not try repairing myself. Do you think that thats reasonable? Roteller.

$50 and $70 isn't bad at all. But you do have to add shipping a heavy beast both ways.

I agree with Kevin; if the service center is local and you can deliver then yes it is a good deal. I, too, am very anal about the 'looks' of my equipment, and cars. If Iknow there is a blemish I will get it repaired.

I think that is a V reasonable price.

If it means you don't cringe every time you sit down in front of your system, then it is $ well spent, IMHO.
