    1098 and DD+20 + DLPII problem

I use a 1098 and a Toshiba HD-EX1 and trough optical and coax I'm not able to get DPLII with 2.0 tracks.

Somehow the 1098 sees the 2.0 track as multi-channel.

    Are others with this problem?

Dolby Digital 2.0 or PCM 2.0? If it's PCM, I think you're limited to 48khz/16 for PLII to work.

What's actually showing on the display when the stream starts?

I just got my 1098 so I may be wrong, but I thought there was a statement in the manual about all DD streams would be auto-detected and played as is. One of the reasons they recommend running interconnects to the analog inputs too?

With DD+ 2.0, I mean "Dolby Digital Plus".

The display reads "Dolby Digital", but wil not let me switch to DPL.... It simply locks.

It works perfect with standard Dolby Digital, but not with DD+

The problem could be the high bitrate of 640 kb/s, so the 1098 thinks it's multi-channel???

OK, had to find the manual for that player. Using the optical/coaxial outputs, DD+ and DD-HD get converted to regular Dolby-Digital. You'll only get DD+ out of the HDMI connection.

My guess is the HD-EX1 always converts it to a 5.1 DD signal, regardless of how many channels make it up. If you have a lot of discs with only stereo, you can set the SPDIF to PCM. That should let you apply PLII to it.

To get the best sound you should be using the 5.1 multi-channel outputs. That will have the full decoded DD+ or DD-HD tracks, rather then a lossy conversion to regular DD.

            Thanx Kevin :T

I know the HD-EX1 convert DD+ to DD, it still displays 2- of multi-channel. Ther is no problem with 5.1 only 2.0.

I have connectes the analoge 5.1 from the HD-EX1 to the 1098, but you cant allay DPL to the analoge 5.1 input from the 1098. This means connecting an extra pair to an stereo input.

BTW it works on a Denon receiver

The PCM option I havn't tried yet.

              RSP-1098 and RMB-1095 questions
              by thunderstorm77
              Good morning!

I finally got my RSP-1098 and RMB-1095, I must say I couldn't be more satisfied. A huge step up in sound quality, especially stereo, which is awesome considering it's a surround system. I use a high-end HTPC for all audio and video sources, and use the TV-out on the graphics...
