None of their Pre-amps have the THX surround processing mode, yet all the powerful amplifiers have THX ultra certification. Wonder why...

Rotel used to get THX certification on their preamps as well. None of the newer amps have the THX logo so when the two older amps (RMB-1075 & RMB-1095) get replaced, I doubt anything new will get certified. Rotel doesn't have replacements in the works that I know of but it's bound to happen at some time.

I am looking at 2 power amps strictly for 2 channel audio, the RB 1070 or RB 981, and the RB 1080 or RB 991. For some reason the RB 991 and RB 1080 have a THX badge on them, but the others don't. I wanted to hear what their stand was on THX certification.
I know that they've had products certified in the past but it seems that they've stopped certifying newer products - my RMB-1075 is certified, my RSP-1098 is not.

In my quest for an upgrade to my RSP 976 I am pondering why the RSP 1098 does not have THX certification. It seems like all the competition in that price range have THX certification i.e. B & K Ref 50, Anthem AVM 20, etc.
Does the 1098 meet THX specs or not? Do any of the forum members... -
Would the 1066 pass the THX ultra2 certification process? If not Why? if yes why wasn't it certified?
