Please help me - RSX-1075, DVD HDMI and TV

    Please help me - RSX-1075, DVD HDMI and TV

    I have recently purchased the Rotel RSX 1057 receiver. Also grabbed the OPPO 981 dvd player. I have run the HDMI cable from the OPPO to the 1057. Then HDMI cable from the 1057 to my LCD TV. I get video and sound to the TV so I know that both audio and video are going through the 1057. No sound to my speakers. What am I doing wrong. Please help. Thank you.

      I run digital audio out of my DVD player to my receiver and set up my HT audio there and turn off the HDMI audio in the DVD player menu. I'm using Sony and Onkyo , but it should be similar. Let us know how it works out.

          The rotel does not have audio via the HDMI,video only.You need to connect the digital audio from the oppo to the rotel.

              I get video and sound to the TV so I know that both audio and video are going through the 1057.
              Perhaps I misunderstood , but the above quote seems to indicate the audio is passing through the HDMI path to the TV.(?)

                  Thank you Lee and Rick C. I checked the OPPO manual and believe I need a RCA 6 cable set up. I will let you know how I make out.

                      For DVDA and SACD yes. For optimal Dolby Digital and DTS sound I would also run an optical or coaxial (single RCA) cable.

                      The sound and video will pass through the 1057, but it's an HDMI switch only.

                          I believe Kevin is absolutely correct. I also believe the DAC in your Rotel is far better than the one in the Oppo. Go with digital coax from Oppo to receiver and let Rotel decode/distribute the sound. :T
